Otani's translator was fired for stealing 4.5 million from Otani. Well that's at least the first story that came out Second Story is that Otani paid for his translators betting debt. Last story is that Otani racked up 4.5 million in debt to a bookie but had his translator pay it for him.......

I say MLB does as little as possible to get to the bottom of things. But I think if they broke the law in any way the state of California will put the screws to them, because he structured his contract in a way that cheats California out of a crap ton of taxes on his $700 million contract.

Reading the ESPN Timeline makes Ohtani look like a hapless idiot that got taken for $4.5M. Which I guess is the only version of the story that keeps him out of court and on the field. The original version of the story seems a LOT more likely. But bailing out a friend to an illegal bookmaker has potential repercussions. Especially if they uncover he was betting on baseball, which is the MOST likely scenario. I can't believe a guy that lives and breathes baseball on a daily basis was only betting on soccer and football.
