I know cost is high but why dint we see more of them with all of the hail claims?
I know HOAs don’t allow them in most places Most people cannot afford to upgrade...it seems like a no brainer but its scary the number of people living pay check to paycheck. They're getting a new roof as is for free or almost free. The cosmetic waiver is a result of every greedy roofer (seemingly) knocking doors where they see a metal roof and scarring the owner with a "you have hail damage" and then gives them a "free inspection" where they are likely to find pepper dents or bigger. Then they come down the ladder with a plan to get owners to file a claim. I'm 55, been in the metal roofing industry sense the summer between my freshman/sophomore year of HS....and its been going on all this time. Don't get me wrong, I do not feel sorry for the insurance company's, the IA's are just as greedy as the roofers lol. I've seen metal roofs get bought where I couldn't find a single dent! IMO you gotta find a carrier that will cover the metal roof (they exist) if you want it covered, then see what the savings are for the class 4 discount (cosmetic waiver) If its not enough savings do not take it, if so take it. Not all metal roofs are created equal, I wouldn't put some on my dog house. And in case your wondering, my 2 homes have standing seam on them, if that tells you something (hint hint)

We are happy with our standing seam. nice roof pp Standing seam is the way to go. That is exactly what I wanted (black as well), but wife wanted stone coated steel because how it looked, this was 2013. I'll vouch for BDB, good guy and knows metal roofs. I got locked into a roof contract in 2013 that went bad with a crooked manger that got fired, owner's family stepped in and all worked out and I ended up with a really nice roof. But BDB coached me along and spent a lot time with me on the phone. I would have switched to him if I could have.

We are happy with our standing seam. nice roof pp Thanks! We had no problem getting insurance without any waiver…. Our insurance cost is less than our previous home that didn’t have a metal roof… agent said because our house is fire proof from fires starting outside the house because of cement board and stone to go with the metal roof….
