My parent bought window ac units my senior year in high school. One in the living room and one in thier bedroom. I closed my door at night so I could open my windows.

We had space heaters. Often had ice on the inside of the north window.

Had indoor plumbing at home and running when we had electricty and the pump could pick up water. Grandparents in Westminister had indoor plumbing for the women folk. Men went to outhouse and washed our hands at the haind pump in the back yard.

Never saw a calulater until out of high school.

Cars ran scalded apes.

Chidren were seen not heard.

We learned historty by listening to our elders tell stories about thier lives.

I rode a bus to school until I could drive. Bus ride was an hour and a half long. It took that long to pick up 20 kids.

There were only 48 states in the Union. Alaska and Hawaii joined in 1959.
