I’m taking my son to Pat Mayse for a few days of small game hunting in May. I’ve hunted there a few times but haven’t had a ton of success. Anyone willing to pm me a suggestion for a couple of good areas for squirrels and/or rabbits? I’m not looking for a GPS coordinate of your favorite hotspot, just a zone or area that is promising.

I attached a zone map for reference. I’ve gotten a handful in 10C and 6C and seen few in 1C.

I have never been there or I would tell you what I could. Call the area manager. I am sure they do annual squirrel population surveys same as most of the east texas wmas. The hunt manager would be able to tell you more about the current best areas more than anyone else could.

Also you can look up the game warden for that county and they will give you a call back when they’re not busy , they always know good spots and are eager to help when a kid is involved

Yeah he’s a super good guy. I talked with him last year. Just looking for some insight from someone who has hunted squirrels out there.

I wish you would come shoot all the squires and rabbits in my neighborhood.
