My take away from Bill's response on the 6.5 Creedmoor is that it has a tendency to bring the wrong bullet to the hunt. That's no fault of the caliber. I do hunt about 95% of the time with a .308 which he also mentioned. I mostly spend the balance with my 6.5 Creedmoor and I notice no difference in the ability to drop game with either. That would be due to the fact that I use the same bullet in both, Hornady SST.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I just dont understand how the failure is on +-130gr bullet carrying 2200-1400lbs of kinetic energy at reasonable impact velocities.

Now if some one said its overrated because the 7-08 offers larger array of bullets weight choices in same sized action and marginally more recoil. Ok that makes sense

I would agree that the 6.5CM is overrated simply because too many out there think it is some kind of magical cartridge. I have a 6.5cm that I use mostly for banging steel. I have, however used it for hunting (with handloaded 143 ELD-X) and haven't had anything go farther than about 15-20 yards. I still don't get the whole "6.5cm, you're gonna end up with a long tracking job" Or "6.5CM won't kill". But nobody says that about the Sweede. The only thing I can figure is that hunters with a 6.5cm tend to be inexperienced and maybe make bad shots. In which case, they would be tracking with a .308 or a .270 or whatever was in their hands at the time. I also have not seen any evidence of the eld-x not expanding.

pretty much sums me up. I dont think its magical, but very capable with very manageable recoil.

Now my turn to piss off people...I agree too about 6.5cm. nothing techincal about the cartridge i hate, but kinda hate its most ardent proponents. To me 6.5cm is new 270.

It’s a “270 Lite”. A 120 gr at 2900 vs the 270 with a 130 gr at 3000. It works fine for me, though I shoot the marginally better 260. grin

Outside of extreme impact velocity nothing can make up for a lack of frontal area in a bullet. A 308 bullet has about 15% more frontal area.

Why not go for broke and include Sako's "budget" line of Tikka rifles and their bottom plastic.

Love my Judge, love it. If this is where you find yourself (and I don't), "My Judge ..... won't shoot a good enough pattern to kill a snake past 5yds", consider getting closer.

Btw, also love my suppressed Sig M-400. Btw II, also love my Christensen 270 and Yuger M77 22-250 tack shooting devices.

My thoughts on the Gaymore coincide somewhat with Bobo's - can't figure out the hate, but I do hear about it and often enough to realize there is "something there".

Sure glad no one has foul mouthed my Wingmaster.

The 6.5 Gaymoor can't hold a 270's jockstrap...it wishes it could be a 270. It had to be said.

I will say the schlong measurement in this post and one upper potential is impressive...

Blk I disagree. This is relevant at pistol velocities but any reasonable velocity rifle it’s more about bullet construction. A bthp is going to pencil through regardless of diameter where a partition will expand. Etc.

Man I feel like I got slapped twice with powder! hahaha

My first O/U was a Weatherby Orion that was made in Japan. I shot about 3 maybe 4,000 rounds within a couple years. I caught the sporting clays bug for a little while. I was told by the previous owner it had easily 20,000+ rounds through it before I got it. I rarely take this thing out to shot but I love the thing.

I am in the "Tikkas are UNDER rated" camp. I got a got a few, one of which I've had some significant trigger time. Had a cut rifle barrel installed in another T3 action. Haven't shot it yet (busy shooting my 260) but eventually would like to get similar build off a custom action one day to do a side by side comparison. Just to show u haters!!!! hahah really, it's dream built i want to give my wife.

I can see merit to most fan bases (Glock/1911/6.5 vs the world), but HK pistols is one I don’t get, nothing special for the extra $$. Their SMGs, that’s totally different sorry.
