Got out just before daylight to my spot. There were a handful of hogs in the middle of the pasture I could see with night vision scope. Grabbed the 224 Valkyrie knowing the sun was going to come up quick and may need a longer shot. These Vortex scopes (crossfire), have 2, are worthless when there is a difference in light from sky to earth. They just "fog out" and have no use whatsoever, happens at dusk and dawn. So frustrating. So I grabbed the 300gr 458 Socom with a Leupold and hoped for a closer shot and got 60 yds away so it worked out. Dumped the first one and then the fun ensued and only by the grace of God I got the second one on a full tilt at about 150 yds after a couple misses. Shot 3 or 4 more later in the day at point blank with the 224 in the brush and only recovered one small one. Trying to shoot hogs running at you in thick cover and the scope only goes down to 4x gets a little sketchy. I know I hit 2 more because they were screaming but disappeared into the creek bottom.
