I’m looking for a low hour/milage UTV. Scouring FB Marketplace, I’ve found a number of machines that meet the criteria. Here’s the thing that concerns me, most are being sold by people who apparently buy and flip UTVs. Purchasing one of these machines from the side hustle sellers seems a bit shady/suspect. Are there any other good sources to find used UTVs and would you purchase one from one of the FB Marketplace sellers?

FB marketplace in the metroplex has been corrupted by folks like this. Expand your search to the country and you will find actual owners selling them.

I noticed something odd when I was searching Tacomas on FB marketplace. The 10 I looked at were all being sold by younger hispanic guys..something didn't seem right.

There’s one guy around here who flips them but the rest are from owners.

Don't do it! I know a guy who flips small Toyota trucks. He buys junkers at auction makes them look really clean and meets buyer at location away from his house and he uses burner phones. Good luck getting ahold of him. Buy a trade in from a dealer that has been checked out. Sometimes there are nice ones on here.

Over the last couple of years I've saved about 30 grand on FB Marketplace vs buying from a dealer. Everything was essentially new that people just thought they needed. It just takes a little time and the correct search parameters.

What happens to stolen UTVs? The same thing as stolen guns which is why a buyer should do their due diligence when researching a seller and their location.

I bought a UTV on FB Marketplace from an individual. He even trailered it and drove it to the Polaris shop so that I could have it inspected before purchasing.

I've bought and sold all sorts of things on FB market place ... tractors, trailers, RTVs, implements, etc. even guns when those used to be allowed. If something smells fishy, it likely is ...

As most probably know I buy project machines and fix them up to resell so I have some input on this topic.
Generally there is nothing wrong with people who buy and resell - with a couple exceptions. You can generally tell how the seller is on Facebook - some things to look at is their rating and how many they have for sale. I’ve worked hard to keep a perfect 5 star rating on Marketplace by not selling junk - I only fix up a few a year.
Most times if they have more than one for sale they aren’t fixing any issues. There are a couple guys in DFW that flip them that do absolutely nothing to better the machine or even inspect it - these are the guys to stay away from. They just lowball sellers and then jack the price up. I can give you a couple names of people to stay away from in PM if you want.
Keep in mind though you can have poor experiences even if buying it from the owner. As always, any time someone advertises work done to something don’t listen unless they’re willing to back up the work (showing old part, receipts etc).

There are alot of trolls on there. Only if you know what to look for on the vechile mechanically, and ensure the title is legit. Tall order for those of us that do not do it often. Dealerships have used and many are on consignment ( meaning make a offer) the market is getting soft for rec vechiles.

If you find a low mileage 2015 570 green full size single cab ranger with a winch mounted at the rear to load deer, I’ve got the title and owners manual for it.

I bought one from a flipper out of Whitney. I am not going to say I got a bad deal, but its had its fair share of minor and one fairly major issue since I bought it last year. As mentioned above, knowing what I know now, I don't think he did anything to it other than wash it off with a hose. He didn't have a clue what was good on it or not. Unless I know exactly where it came from, the next one I buy will most likely be new. Even still, I have heard those have their issues to. Just do your due diligence and test EVERYTHING in a real world experience. I drove the one I bought on pavement in front of the guys house. Flipped all the switches and everything lit up like it should and no check engine light, so I assumed everything worked. Got it back to the ranch and the 4X4 didn't work. Light cam on on the dash and switch lit up, but no go. $600 and a long afternoon later I had a new front diff. Again, I don't feel like I was "taken" but I didn't recognize some red flags that I should have.

Update. I ended up purchasing a Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT DPS from Patriot Powersports (Adam Haun). He does post on FB, but has a dealership on N Sylvania in Fort Worth. Time will tell, but they seem to be a legitimate business and they were very easy to deal with. Zero sale’s pressure, prices were fair and they did offer free labor to install a winch and windshield. Plus they gave me a discount on the winch, mounting plate and windshield. In addition, I found them to be very knowledgeable and really focused on helping you select a machine based on usage.

I bought2 new Hondas about 10 or so years ago. They will last the rest of my life. Why buy used?
