Never been on the site, nothing there for me. I think we should tread lightly on this. I’m all for national security (my job for 20 years) but there’s also not wanting to make Fakebook and Google even more powerful. I have seen where some interesting business folks are wanting to buy the company.

My opinion is this is all about money, not security.

TikTok will be forced to sell to a US company, probably Facebook. Then all data can be manipulated by woke US companies and all data used for our evil opposed to Chinas evil.

Depends on who's in office when the sale actually comes down. If Dem's are in control, probably Google or MicroSoft. If Republican's then Trump will go back to Oracle like he did in 2020. People forget that TikTok sit's in the Oracle US Cloud.. it makes sense they just take control of everything if they are forced to divest.

If TikTok is banned people will just start watching YouTube Shorts or some other video app. Essentially the same thing.

It is about security and the long tentacles of Chinese government collection or stealing personal information and potential algorithms that negatively influence Americans. If you have a cellphone, iCloud or Apple ID your information is already out there.

We were using new technology where whenever your phone bounced off a wifi it was accessing unique information.
Some people use devices to mask cell towers to run signals through them before hitting towers. Triggerfish systems.

I don't have a dog in this hunt but FWIW, the original Tiktok ban threat was in 2020 from Trump and he said it was in the interest of national security. I would think he had access to information I didn't have. They divested somewhat to prevent the ban and later sued Trump over it.
