So I posted a thread a few weeks ago about my horrible experience at this dealership. Then I ran across this today. EXACTLY what we experienced - somebody should sue this dealership to put a stop to this crap

I cannot believe the dealerships are still using to old advertisement "On Sale" scam...advertise a new truck for a certain price, you get there to see the truck, they have the truck but have added on things and now the real price is $10,000.00 more than the advertised price. The dealer continues to advertise the vehicle for the 10,000.00 less "Sale Price" for weeks and they don't have a truck anywhere near that price. It should be illegal but I'm sure they have some small print somewhere on the ad that lets them off the hook.

I can tell you for fact that car dealerships do not appreciate or like well-informed buyers...My wife and I just completed a deal on a new truck and the salesman was fine, nice guy, and helpful...the finance guy, because he couldn't sell us a bunch of extras was not a happy camper.

yep every time I have to go see the finance guy I tell him up front - NO ADD ONS - no warranty, no anything - they ask me why? I tell them I self insure for everything - they hang their heads - care dealerships need to be regulated now

I always love to scratch items out after they’ve printed it on one of those printers that has layered copies.

Dump the dealerships. Only need them as service centers (over priced) now.

Somebody already cover BAIT AND SWITCH. Now, when you get to the finance office, they may show you a credit score much lower than your actual score. Hang on to your butts.

There isn't a new vehicle I'd be interested in purchasing. Just too complex. Anyone else agree?

I had a bad experience at a dealership in Gladewater about two months ago. Bill Dickason Chevrolet. Drove an hour there to look at a truck advertised at a good price. When I got there before they would let me test drive they wanted to run my credit. I said I was paying cash. They gave me finance paperwork and it was $4000 higher than advertised. It was add ons for theft coverage, 30 day warranty and something else. I said I didn't want that stuff and they said it was mandatory to buy the truck. They actually told me.it was a new mandatory law for Texas. I got up and walked out. What a scam.

I never go there based on some advertisement. I pick out what I want and tell them from the beginning that it’s cash and any price that is negotiated is all in TTL included. I make them repeat that back to me and then we haggle. I’ve never had an issue doing that way.

That's pretty ballsy. Who doesn't know their own credit score?

Come on, thats a silly question. There are idiots everywhere. Tons of people are financially illiterate. People still do payday loans and agree to a ton of other predatory lending.

I have never had this happen to me but I totally see it working.

I was wanting to get the wife a new Honda CRV, but they redesigned them this year and kinda ugly looking, I got her a new 2018 CRV and it has held up well and looks rather sporty and sharp

I may look into the Toyota RAV they are sharp looking and would be a good fit for her to drive, She likes a vehicle that sits up high and subcompact.

Where in the world are you gonna buy a new car?

I think there are laws in place that only dealerships can sell new vehicles

I like to buy brand new

I know they're (idiots) out there, just not so many that car dealerships had a plan in place for idiots. I get my credit score monthly from AM Ex and my personal bank. You would think that even the most financially inept person would know their credit score. Sad.

That is not exactly how it works. You don't have a credit score. You have information that is stored by the credit bureaus. Each of the three credit bureaus have dozens of different scoring models that each bank wanting your credit score can subscribe to. Beacon 08, Beacon 09, Fico 08, Fico 09, Fico 08 auto enhanced, Fico 08 mortgage enhanced, Vantage 3.0, etc. Two different lenders can pull your credit score at the exact same time, and your score may be drastically different if they are pulling different scoring models. Usually, all the scoring models are fairly close. But that is not always the case. Usually, what you do to raise or lower one score will similarly affect the others. i.e. - paying down credit cards, or incurring late payments. But those actions may affect your score more or less depending on the scoring model. It is ridiculously complicated.

I bought a new 2023 Honda CRV 10 months ago. We really like it after driving 7 different Accord`s since 1996. Getting right @ 34 MPG highway and more leg room for me and quieter ride than the Accords. I actually like the newer look over the older ones. confused2

But...........any person should be able to have a very good idea based on an average of all that are available to the average person. About 5 years ago I had a F&I guy tell me a score that was actually a little higher than what I had for myself, after that I had a similar experience. I could see some small differences from bureau to bureau, but I don't see how one could say you suck and another say you're above average, right?

The 2018 get 30.2 MPG overall, I am more than impressed. It has a small engine with a turbo and it's actually quite fast and very agile and fun to drive.

The new CRV are too plain looking for me, Honda doesn't have the most stylish lineup of cars, but they sure hold up well and are fun to drive with great gas mileage.
