I have somewhat primitive accommodations at my small ranch, no running water or electricity. Previously tried to run a portable TV out there but couldn't get reception with primary antenna or a 75 mile auxiliary one. Generally have ventured into Graham, TX most nights and afternoons while out there, hitting stores, deer processor, feedstore, restaurants, sports bars or movie theater, HS football game, etc. to stay entertained. This past season drug the bbq pit out and now have Spectrum TV, Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney + streaming apps installed on my Android phone. Think my days/nights of running into Graham, TX are mostly behind me. Whom else out there stays mostly entertained in season by streaming TV and movies on their phones and how has it worked out. I have 2-3 charging blocks to keep the phone charged over the weekend.

I have Dish at home and have a separate set up for the trailer at the lease All on the same monthly bill. Cost is minimal. At one time we just brought a receiver from home but got tired of that.

Surprisingly, I have a fiber optic line that runs on the road in front of my property, so I do have high speed internet and streaming services. I do like to have some noise in the background so I turn the tv on when I’m in the cabin. Not gonna lie, it’s nice to be able to watch tv in the evenings or at lunch time.

I also read a lot or listen to podcasts.

Same. We have no power but run a small inverter generator to power the camper including the tv/dish. Had the dish for 8 years or so now and was a great investment.

I thought part of going to the deer lease was to get unplugged, spend time with friends, enjoy nature and the outdoors? confused2

Don't have no TV at the lease. I must say, most of the others do. During the off season, usually down there alone or with a bud so Idon't have access to one and that there has been no problem.

I have it all on 133 acres South of Bowie.

poor white trash, 2 BR trailer house; about 40 or so years old. Water well and septic. Shipping container for 4 wheelers and hand tools and a bunch of stuff. 30 ft Construction office trailer for feed/ corn sacks and a bunch of junk that I might need some day. 4 bay tractor shade with one tractor, commercial air compressor and more stuff/junk/tools. Shooting range with stations at 25 and 100 yards. Lots of tractor plows, etc, 5 trailers from pickup bed to 16 ft tandem axles. Way too much stuff/treasures/junk/crap.

2 tanks/ponds and a spring fed creek.

All gonna be for sale in the next couple of years. Gittin too old to keep the place up and use all the stuff. I live in Fort Worth and this stuff is 70 miles away.

We have a Direct TV dish at the Ranch but have been informed that they are going to survey our area to run fiber because they are tired of repairing phone line cuts caused by the road motor grader.

Mostly, but I'm still a creature of habit requiring some entertainment diversions. While hunting in blind or tripod, usually 100% hunting mode, sans the occasional ear pods to hear a game or some good tunes, especially during slower hunt sits, but once the hunting sit is done if not requiring a feeder check, refill or game cam check, I have no issues with a little tube viewing. A good college football game or TV show or movie works fine as does a good meal. Something easy and inexpensive fits the itch for me....

Hunting season is over and it is time to break out the fishing gear.

Hunting season is never over as long as there’s pigs, coons, and coyotes to kill. I do get 4 tv channels at the trailer that I watch when I’m not out working on something or hunting. I like to have the door opened so I can see the pasture. Town is 18 miles away but we rarely go. I’m down from having 480 acres to run around on to under 200 now so that limits my free time activities.

So you go to the woods to watch tv and play on your phone? I’d suggest staying at the house and ordering pizza,

At night, what are you supposed to do, stare at the wall? Besides reading there isn’t much else.

He isn’t asking about hooking up starlink to his deer blind, just getting some streaming service for the nights in camp

Go varmint calling at night or just walk around with a thermal spotter and a 22/silencer. Get rid of more coons and watch your turkey numbers increase.

Yep.

When not hunting or fishing there is usually some chore that needs to be done. Usually cutting and splitting firewood or trail/driveway maintenance. Sometimes dock repair. Or if no chores to do than take the dog for a run in the bush or a slow tour around the lake on the tritoon.

Once dark sit at the woodstove with some Lagavullin, Cohiba and a good book. Nearest place with anything open after 5 pm is 45 miles away so not really an option unless you really need something.

One caveat is that the OP said "Lease." My place is not a lease - i own it but the concept is the same although perhaps the "chores" become more onerous once you own something.

There’s a lot of people who go to a lease for the social aspect of it rather than enjoying the silence and solitude. I’m here all the time so I’m content just watching/hunting and listening to the animals.

Hunt on my own on my ranch and 95% of time on my own on my lease, so no socializing happening for me. After hunting for hours at a time, I don't mind some leisurely down time. Don't think that's such a foreign concept, maybe it is....

Down time is not a foreign concept. How one does it is completely up to the individual and there is no right or wrong - just whatever works for you. My take might be 180 degrees different than yours and that is completely fine and definitely no reason to judge someone or disrespect them. How you spend your free time should be completely up to you and F$%^ anyone that thinks you are doing it wrong.

I apologize if my previous post implied otherwise (it may well have).

When I'm there by myself..............
It's dark at 6pm, no cell service in camp so I check in at home before coming into camp. Usually done with cooking, eating and clean up by 7:30. I intentionally leave some things undone with my rifle and gear so I'll have something to do such as wipe down my rifle and make sure the glass on all my optics is clean. I'll organize my gear, make ready everything for the next morning and asleep by 8:30. I get the best sleep all year at the lease in my trailer.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Enjoy the peace and quiet is what I’d do but to each their own, I can watch tv at home.
