For less than $500 yes. For $500-700 aero is probably considered a bit better but their bolt carrier groups don’t get much love. $600-900 BCMs have been on sale. And are a good step up in quality according to some.

Define "best place."
You can save money buying a PSA upper and end up with something perfectly serviceable, but you might find yourself being PSA's QC. Just be sure to give it a good workout before deploying it for your intended purpose.
I think PSA sells other makers' stuff too but I may ne misremembering. It's been a while since I've looked at their site.

I’ve never had a single issue with PSA and I have 3 uppers with two more on the way.

I've got 2 PSA uppers and 1 Wilson Combat upper. All 3 shoot sub MOA with handloads. WC is clearly the winner in fit and finish, but for accuracy and function, so far they are tied. No issues with either. Best bang for the buck, PSA is a winner in my book. (WC is a bit lighter weight I believe)

I think PSA sells other makers' stuff too but I may ne misremembering. It's been a while since I've looked at their site. I bought a Delton upper from PSA a few years ago and I can hit an 8" gong from 200 on a bench with carry handle sights (which is good for me).
Pass the gravy.

I have bought two complete uppers from Bear Creek Arsenal, both in .450 Bushmaster for well under $300 each. I prefer the right-side charging style. They both have given excellent accuracy and reliability.

PSA is good enough for hunting and rec use. Most have no use for Tier 1 or War Fighter grade weapons.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I have PSA upper and I do think PSA is probably the best value, as in quality per cost. Bear creek the cheapest. My pricey one is a Daniel Defense but that was about a decade ago.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Aero Precision for a less expensive purchase, Wilson Combat for a more money but worth the difference in price purchase…..

Yeah, all depends on your budget. Another option is Blackstone Arms, who now owns ARP barrels. Not exactly cheap, but not super expensive either and very high quality. I have one of their 12.5" uppers in 6.8 and it's been sub-MOA with everything I've fed it, factory or reloads. Owner of BA is also a THF forum member. https://www.blackstonearms.com/

I have quite a few PSA rifles and like their Sabre line with CHF FN barrels.

PSA has been cranking out quality for awesome prices.
The market is beyond flooded with AR stuff, and a lot of it is over priced for the name.

Get on Del-Ton's mailing list and you will find top quality uppers on sale for about $250 that come with a bcg and charge handle. I have dozens of their uppers and have yet to have one that doesn't perform well.
