Large eggs were $2.86 for a dozen and a half a few weeks ago at Walmart . Now they are $4.58.

Wow! Our local Randall's grocery has 18 large eggs on sale this week for $1.99, although they're usually $4.59

It's a bit of a pain, but the digital coupons for Kroger can save some money. I especially use them to stock up on certain meats and produce. Sale price tactics have definitely changed over the years. To get a good price on chips, you have to buy 4 bags, which is pretty ridiculous. But otherwise each individual bag is $6 or more. So, I buy 4 and stash 2 out of sight from my youngest son. Or I saw 18 eggs for $2. I bought 54 and stashed 36 of them in the garage refrigerator.

Damn Thump, you eating Wagyu filets and lobster 3 times a day? My family of 6 keeps our grocery bill about $175 a week and we eat pretty good.

After 31 years in the grocery business, I can tell you this. They're not coming down. They`re just not. Everyone in the Supermarket business and supply chain gave bigger pay increases and allowed way more overtime than what they would have just to keep shelves full and employees from staying at home like so many people did. Then you have all the supply issues associated with producing the products that eventually ends up in your grocery baskets. It`s really not the Supermarket fault, but they`re the only one with a cash register. No one took those pay increases back, so now prices had to be adjusted / increased for them to achieve the profit margins they are accustomed to. It`s the world we live in sadly. confused2

No, The food companies change packaging and give you less and keep the same price. Quality is down on some generic eggs with the shells paper thin( threw 4 doz away). Shop sales if you have time digital coupons are valuable.

My kids ask what I'm cooking on the weekends. My reply is "what's on sale?"

Prices will drop slightly, but remember you are already getting less. (Shrinkflation). So when they drop a little and you “save money” you are not. We have all been programmed.

I haven't noticed any drop in prices at the grocery store, still high as hell.

Our Oysterfest is this weekend and they cancelled the fireworks show this year as a direct result of this inflation. The cost of everything is WAY up, food/drinks/tents/everything across the board. This is a fundraiser for the Fulton Fire Dept and to avoid having to raise the ticket prices cuts had to be made.

You are exactly right regarding the pay increases. Especially in certain states like Colorado. I was reading a WSJ article about independent casual restaurants and how many are closing because of the labor costs. One restaurant said they know they can't charge $16 for a cheeseburger, but the city of Denver minimum wage is $18.29 per hour and they have to guarantee paid sick time, which service industry workers are notorious for taking advantage of. It’s just not sustainable.

Hell, when I was in Gunnison a couple months ago, there was a huge banner hanging outside the City Market (Kroger) advertising starting pay for all positions at $18 hour. Meanwhile inside the store, there were 2 teenage baggers casually chatting while SLOWLY bagging my groceries. A good store manager would eliminate those unnecessary roles. I shop at Kroger here in TX and it’s very noticeable how much higher the prices are in CO vs. TX. The labor costs are just out of control.

That and the stupid Libtards charge for bags everywhere you go. CO was our plan for retirement, after our last Thanksgiving trip we're looking elsewhere and probably done going to CO all together. They've ruined that state.

Plastic bags aren't even available in CO anymore unless the bag inventory was purchased by stores prior to 1/1/2024.
