We planned the hunt 2 years ago and Garvey built a 338 Lapua for this hunt. [Linked Image]
Judd and I arrived at the ranch early and the guide (Hunter) took us out immediately even though the hunt was to start the next day. We checked several water holes, but no Nilgai. There is a dry lake bed that had water from a recent rain we were trying to stalk to. Immediately there was a young bull in the road watching us so we ducked behind a bush. A couple WT bucks came wandering out and the mature 10 point got about 10 yards away before he realized we were there. All three animals left and the guide spotted a bull 400 yards away to the north away from the lakebed. We were about to begin the stalk when a sounder of pigs wandered out immediately in front of us. We waited for them to push off and took off after the bull. When we got to the treeline the bull had wandered back into the woods. So we headed back and was losing light quick, back at the road the guide spots a Bull a mile away on the sand past the lakebed. We took off as quickly as possible after a 1,000 yards or so he glassed and the bull was wandering further and was 700 yards away. I was ready to take off again when he spots a bull that came out of the woods to the south at 480. We made the stalk on him, and it was just like pig hunting. I cranked my scope down to 3 power and closed the gap in open country there was so little light. We had to get close because of the light and settled at 110 yards. I had to tilt the gun high to see the crosshairs and bring it down. The bullet smacked him so hard Judd heard it from 1,400 yards away. The 300 gr berger went through the front shoulder, both rib cages and shattered the other shoulder. The bull was dead on impact. The ranch and guide were first class and I will return. Had the time of my life with Judd, he is a great friend and outstanding hunter. Garvey was a huge help in preparation for this hunt as I was at his range a bunch in preparation. A experience I will never forget!!

The first photo shows two older, weathered bulls with one getting the better of the other. Outstanding and envy is present here.

Nice Ramsey. I have done a public hunt down there and they are tough animals.
