And then they went to whole RAP crap country….i can’t listen to a “modern county” station for more than five minutes. Our local station plays red dirt….mostly pretty good!

I’m not much of a Tom Petty fan, but he pretty much nailed that.

5 minutes is pretty good, amigo. Shows a lot of patience. The second I hear that garbage, which only happens when one of my dufus hands changes the station without me knowing, I have a decent fit. I’m still trying to figure out if it’s that they don’t care, or that they just enjoy winding me up.

Anyone unfamiliar should google the song with the lyric "rednecker".

It's the epitome of crappy writing.

Pass the gravy.

The Beyonce line dancing all the guys are doing seems a bit gay. You will never catch me doing that.

Yall may not like him but if you set your preconceived notions aside he has some pretty good songs and has written some great songs.

Not bad, but I need to hear it in a bar, being played on a jukebox.

All those songs feature fake country accents. No go for me.

Hardy grew up in rural Mississippi and Wallen rural Tennessee, I doubt the need to fake accents. You don’t think country artists from the 90s or earlier faked being country?

Conway Twitty (Harold Jenkins) played high school football in Tallulah, Louisiana, about 45 miles north of where I grew up. His accent wasn’t that country, but I guess he was a city boy if he was from big Ol Tallulah.

His music verbiage, if you catch my drift, might have been affected by the high school football mascot - The Trojans.

No one's accent naturally comes out that much while singing. Whether from England, Boston, or the Deep South, accents are barely (if at all) recognizable in music. Those are fake singing twangs.

Blake Shelton's "Boys 'Round Here" has the most ridiculous lyrics nearly ever put to music. But if we need to harp on previous generations, "Honky Tonk Bedonkadonk" and "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" are other stupid songs, just a little older.

Pass the gravy.
