The wife, kids and I might as well be complete “homesteaders” now. We built an indoor seed starting station and are having pretty decent luck with germination. We’ve also started on our greenhouse. The kids have 100 baby chicks that will be available to purchase soon.

Nice. You should chat with Snakewrangler. He’s also a man with a plan

This was our first year last spring. We’ve got our seedlings going as well. Good luck! I bet Norml could help you here.

Nice, we're not doing a garden this year (wife is due mid summer) but we have the chicks hatching in full swing. Just loaded the big incubator last night. Hatched a few out of the small incubator last week as well. Eggs are coming in strong

I love seeing all of this! We are excited about trying to get a decent garden going.
@Bradybuck - super nice! Can you post more information on your raised beds? We are close to starting that part of our project. Looks like you opted for 1x material? Does it seem to be holding up? No bowing?

Thank you sir, chickens are great, have been working with them since I was a kid. No leftover food goes to waste, they are great pest controll, and they pay for their feed costs with eggs. It's win win

No bowing? Sure! Yeah I used 6 foot cedar fence pickets. They do seem to be holding up, no bowing but I did put in cross bracing as well. It was by far the cheapest way to go. If I had to do it over again I might use 2x6 pine because I do believe in 2-3 years I’ll have to replace them. I plan to just basically build a box around the existing ones as needed with 2x6 material.

Great looking Veggie gardens and chicken related stuff Tried to do a vegetable garden on the creek bank many moons ago. Brought in great soil, had garden timbers with raised netting around them all to no avail. Mocking birds would use their beak to raise the netting and crawl under and poke quarter size holes in every tomato that was almost ripe and other critters or bugs were feasting on other stuff. It was costing me a lot more than if I were to go to Central Market and buy it I converted the veggie garden into a Cactus Garden, low maintenance, no stress.

Brady, that looks like produce you'd find in Central Market. Nice job, I wish I had the space and skill to grow vegetables.
