I didn’t realize this was about Nerf guns when I clicked on it. I left the video with more questions than answers. Are there adults out there that are that serious about Nerf guns? I thought airsoft was nerdy. Boy howdy. I had no idea. Don’t get me wrong, I can go all out on some Nerf wars with a bunch of kids. I just get the impression that adults are doing this on a fairly serious level….with other adults. I would have looked into it, but I couldn’t risk disappointing myself like that.

This adult don’t…but these days “adult” doesn’t mean what it did when I was growing up!

These days it’s common for 30-40 year old “adults” to still live at home and play video games

Yep. My youngest boy that just turned 13 is and has been for years a big Nerf dude, actually just bought him a bunch more Nerf guns and ammo that he paid for and worked off. He (and his friends) are all into Nerf YouTube videos. OK cool, Hey Son show me some of these videos that you're watching all the time.....so he starts showing me. I kept frowning and apparently making sounds under my breath. Son says "What's wrong Dad, you don't like the video?" I said "Son why are grown men with beards so into this stuff and having Nerf wars with other grown men and posting it up on social media? When I was his age, along with most we were at a job working somewhere."

He said "Dad, he is working. He makes a LOT of money off of his channel Dad, like a lot."

I didn't have a come back.....

Me and my brothers used to have weeks long Nerf war campaigns... all surprise attacks and skirmishes.

Paintballing was big for a minute in the early to mid 2000's. Nerf is a gentler, softer version of that.


As for the youtube video people....just like drug dealers, they would not be in business if there were not consumers. The amount of people who watch mindless shyte like that is appalling. And it stretches across every genre and walk of life. There is a new men's "lifestyle" magazine that I do subscribe to, in large part because the writing itself is cool, but there is a big theme that if you don't own a Rolex, go on African Safaris (one of the absolute least physically demanding hunts there is) and drive a vintage Toyota Landcruiser or Landover, that you are not really cool. Which is hilarious. But the number of soft-minded individuals who blindly follow along is shocking. It's all about planting seeds of doubt to ultimately sell a product as a solution to their fabricated issues.

I damn near did loose an eye! Had to wear an eye patch and apply a salve twice a day for a few weeks. Starting wearing safety glasses for all subsequent roman candle wars.

Ohhh ... geez. I had absolutely no idea. Boy I got tired of picking up the kids' airsoft bbs all over the yard 15-ish years ago. I have to confess that nerf-darting my little brothers from out of the card-table blanket fort would have been way cooler than throwing Tinker Toys at them.

To each his own, I try not to worry about what other "grown-ups" do, as long as I'm not effected.

My brother and a bunch of other UPS folks got real big into paintball, One of my sons got into frisby golf for a couple years.

$650 for a nerf gun! Wow!

My only experience with them was years ago when a friend's son, about 12 or 13 at the time, shot a neighborhood girl with a nerf gun while the boys were outside playing and the girl happened by. Parents went balistic! Called the cops and created a big stink in the neighborhood. I guess the kid shouldn't have shot at a non-combatant, but jeez.

I made my son put away his nerf guns the day he started shooting real ones.

I keep an airsoft on the back porch to motivate the squirrels to make a move with the dogs waiting below. Good fun for me and the dogs and it sorts out the local squirrel gene pool.

The wife and I used to have Nerf battles when the kids were out of the house on a sleepover. Sort of a cardio version of strip poker. It was quite entertaining.
