My wife and I went to see the Bob Marley, One Love movie last night. It was good! I wouldn't say it was "great", but certainly worth the watch. I'm a big fan of his music and was eager to watch the movie. I saw his son Ziggy was a producer and he comments before the movie about keeping the movie factual based. Anyone else watched it yet?

Brother went with his kids on Sat., like you said it was good not great. He said it was less about his music and more about the Man and his activism in Jamaiica of promoting, a One Love movement. He hoped for a deeper dive into his music but said still pretty good.

Yes, me too. I was hoping for more about the music.

Brother was unaware as was I that Marley was mixed race, Jamaican and Anglo. Was the Anglo parent English since a British colonized territory?

The singer’s parents met in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica, and got married in 1945, around the time Bob was born. They welcomed their son, whose full name was Robert Nesta Marley, on Feb. 6, 1945. Booker and Norval’s marriage was short-lived, and they split soon after Bob’s birth, due in large part to Norval's status as a White middle-aged plantation manager and Booker's identity as a Black teenager.

Nope. I love going to the movies, but that one isn`t in my wheelhouse.

I started seeing the trailers back in December and thought it looks good. I could tell from the trailer that it's more about the movement and less about his music. I never was much of a reggae fan, but I do appreciate his talent. Not sure if I'll see it in the theater or wait to stream it at home, but I definitely want to see it.

Vh1 did a documentary in 2012 titled Marley. It was pretty good.

I wonder if it's playing in Jamaica. If so maybe I'll check it out there in a few weeks. Seems fitting. A couple family members said it was pretty good.

I went to the theater and saw it yesterday. It's good. I had no idea of the backstory of his life. I didn't know there was a political war in Jamaica, I didn't know that there was assassination attempt on him and his band, and I didn't know he died of cancer. I also didn't know that he had 7 illegitimate children.

I did not go into the movie expecting an oscar winning movie, but I enjoyed the music. I learned a little from it. I would recommend watching it at home when it is free vs spending the money on it.

He died at 36 yo, and he looked rough, like he was in his mid 50's. All that smoke, and a rough life growing up can do that to you. But his adult life wasn't roughing it....must have been all the smoke

Just about every scene in the movie had a fat joint! I assume that's a pretty accurate portrayal, but I just can't comprehend how he went through life high every waking hour of his life.

We saw it and I ordered two Mai Tai's.
