I’m about two years in with the Resonator R2. It’s not the lightest on the market but supposed to be one of the quietest. Plenty comfortable to shoot bolt rifle without ear protection, and 300blk subs are silly quiet. I’m running the direct thread cap instead of the quick detach to save a couple ounces and the extra length.

I love my YHM. I have many cans and the YHM was my first and still my most used can. It’s 2 pounds hanging off the end of the rifle (one of the old school Phantom SS 30cals). But I’ve been at competitions and had guys come up to me asking what can I was shoot in because it was noticeably quieter than theirs and theirs was double sometimes 3 times the cost. I’ve been thinking about getting a new 30cal can to save on some weight but if I do it’ll definitely be a YHM.
I’m also intrigued by their new cats [censored] 5.56 suppressor it is extremely short and light but out performs the new full size surefire cans for a fraction of the cost.

I’m seriously considering the resonator K I’ve watched some videos between the K and R2 and the K seems noticeably louder that the regular R2 and I don’t think it’s all that mucus shorter and lighter. Oh and their QD system is bullet proof almost impossible to get a baffle strike or launch the suppressor like a lot of the other QDs out there.

I’m seriously considering the resonator K I don’t fully understand K series cans. They are just glorified flash hiders. Start with the R2, then if it is just way too heavy think about a K or titanium, but buying a suppressor that isn’t hearing safe on anything seems like a lot of work for nothing.

I have the Resonator on a CTR 6.5CM, and a Resonator K on my McWhorter 7-08. The Resonator is quieter, but not drastically so. Still don't need ear protection. Love those YHM's.

I have both the Resonator K and Turbo K. I wouldn't say they're glorified flash hiders, and am quite happy with them. I run the Turbo K on a 16" AR, and the Resonator K on an 18" AR and a 20" AR-10. A K can works great for longer rifles because, while you might sacrifice a few dB, you're cutting down the weight at a point where it has maximum leverage. The Turbo K sounds excellent on mine, comparable to any other can I've used. Resonator K also sounds good, but I've never actually been off to the side while someone else shoots it and can't offer my perspective there. Supersonic centerfire cartridges will basically never be fully hearing safe, I still shoot with earpro on at the range, but feel comfortable taking game in a one or two shot situation without earpro. So, anyway, love K cans for long rifles.
YHM is like one of two companies that has been putting out budget cans for a long time, and has had no serious QC issues, no company shakeups, no drama. Rex Silentium being the other. If I had to pick one thing to dog on them about, it'd be the QD system that comes with the cans out of the box. It's bulky, heavy, and the mounts just look ugly. But they work, which is more than can be said about some other mounts like SiCo's old MAAD mount. I use the Kurz system for my Resonator K and have been happy it as a low profile version of the stock mount.

This is all great info , I really appreciate you guys chiming in. I think I will start with the R2 based your feedback and what I’ve read other places

Being so quiet comes from the R2 having high back pressure which makes gas guns run extremely dirty. When I first got my R2 I had an aR-10 with a non adjustable gas block. Due to the high pressure the gas sound at the action wasn’t pleasant (port pop) and it ran so dirty it wasn’t reliable. Later I got an SFAR .308 with the adjustable gas block and it sounded and ran infinitely better. The SFAR was quieter than super sonic through the .300 BLK pistol shown above.

R2 is the way and buy the direct thread adapter from YHM. Form 4 times are getting insanely short recently. I guess everyone is broke but guys on Reddit as bragging about sub 1 week approvals.

I have multiple 30 caliber cans and my two YHM are the ones that stay mounted on my go-to rifles. I have an older Pahtnom Ti and a Phantom LT. Live their QD system and lack of moving parts on the muzzle device. My Titanium can has been in regular use since 2011 without an issue. Probably has 2k rounds through it.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Wow 1 weeks that’s unbelievable I thought a 28 day form 1 was great. Might have to go ahead and grab one of the new YHM cans if waits aren’t bad. Only thing keeping me back is the wait time.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NFA/s/Ox25ghy76ILooks like he harassed them on a batch approval but got three approved 80, 50 and 2 days. Better than the 16 months I waited for the E2.

If I understand the process correctly my first step is find a “ kiosk” and start the paperwork?

Also thinking about getting one of the cat’s [censored] ones for dedicated 5.56 can.

If I understand the process correctly my first step is find a “ kiosk” and start the paperwork? Pretty much. Kiosk is the way to go. I do all my own Form 1s which is a pretty easy process especially since I have electronic finger prints done. But Form 4 has to go through retailer of the factory SBR or Suppressor. I’ve done Form1 suppressors as well to bypass the wait time. DO NOT DO THIS. I did a titanium 5” solvent catch thing on a Form1 and it just can’t compete with real suppressors. For what I spent on the kit and the tax stamp I could have just gotten another YHM but I didn’t want to wait.

If I understand the process correctly my first step is find a “ kiosk” and start the paperwork? Not sure what you are calling NW Fort Worth, but defender outdoors has Kiosk. I went up to Denton and used Bauer Precision as silencer shop didn’t have the suppressor in stock. I haven’t looked on silencer shop to see if the resonator is in stock these days. You can create a silencer shop account to start filling in information then do the finger prints at the kiosk. The single shot trusts sure make sense if you aren’t going to be buying a ton of items. And only $25 extra.

S and K are short. L are the long models.
Except for a few situations the bigger the volume of the suppressor the quieter it will be.

Still waiting for my R9 to get out of jail but on my cisits have run it on everything from my glock with a booster to my ar10 308 and it works amazing on them all. It was my first can and I think pretty awesome for that purpose.

I have a Resonator R2 that I run on .300 BLK, 7.62x39, and .308. I also have an R9 that I run on a PTR9 (clone of a MP5), 9mm pistols, .350 Legend AR, and occasionally even on the .300's or .308.
Very happy with YHM.
