I hope I have selected the correct forum for my topic. Looking for someone with knowledge of Montana Rifle Company (MRC) rifles made from 2000 to 2015. I have acquired the rifle in the attached photo. It is an MRC 1999, .416 Rigby Magnum rifle. That is about all I know except for what is stamped on the gun. On the left side of the receiver, in big bold letters, is “PROFESSIONAL HUNTER”. On the right side of the receiver, just forward of the chamber is “DGR” in small print. Other than the brand and caliber, there is nothing else alluding to the model name. I believe this might be an MRC Alaskan for a couple of reasons. First, it is a DGR. Second, it has a composite stock. The other two DGR made early-on by MGR were offered with wood stocks. Near as I can tell, the Alaskan is the only one that came with a composite stock. I would like to confirm that this is an Alaskan, and if it isn’t, what is it. I would like to know when it was made. I read somewhere that the MRC serial numbers indicate a MRC rifle date of manufacture. The serial on this gun is D13-0013. Finally, I would like to have some idea of it value. I understand that being a PROFESSIONAL HUNTER push the value up by about $1,000. I have tried contacting MRC a couple of times, but they apparently are not interested in responding.[Linked Image]

Jeep, the original Montana Rifle Company went bankrupt but was bought by another company and have been told they making the. Rifles again. I don't remember the name of the new company but maybe someone will come along that can tell you. I have the same rifle but in 300 Win Mag and some good looking walnut stock. Quit shooting it, too heavy and too much recoil for this old man. Thanks Daniel

.416 Rigby is gonna be a Thumper on both ends.

How did you come across this gun, someone must have taken it to Africa.

Daniel,

You said you have the same rifle. Is it the same stock with same coloring. If so, when was it manufacture, and what was it call, i.e., what model.

An old gunsmith died and left it to his favorite person. I don't know if it has been to Africa or to Alaska. I cannot even tell if it's be fired.

I too have tried reaching out to MRC several times both email and phone.
They clearly don't have the same customer service that the original company had.
I recently picked up a 1999 in 338RUM with a Vortex scope on it.
I've never fired it but it is super light for an ultra magnum, so I can see the barrel getting hot if fired several times in succession.
All I'm trying to determine is year of manufacture... It's part of my spreadsheet data for my inventory, and while it's not the end of the world, it's one of the very few blanks and I find it irritating...
I've not heard nor read anything super bad about any of the original 1999s.
You have a great looking rig.
Best of luck with it !
