Here is an axis I took on a friends place south of Junction. Prior to taking this buck I had taken 2 doe. Excellent meat I do say.

Another axis buck I shot. Notice the growth on his left antler. It was solid like bone

Good looking axis! Was it a private hunt, or does he offer hunts?

J Dickey he hasn’t owned the place very long. About 1 1/2 years. He lets close friends take one trophy axis buck as long as they mount it. Then two doe. Then he has two sons and each has a 11-12 year old sons. He says when everyone take a trophy he may sell a couple of hunts. With all those kin and several friends it may be a while. I feel pretty lucky as I shot that smaller buck with the knot or growth on his antler. My friend said that’s not a trophy so when in run out of meat come get a trophy to mount witch I did 8 months later. Great friend.

Congrats on your axis. Excellent table fare as well.
Hunt WITH your kids... NOT for them
