My generator is surging and only runs with the choke on. Prettty sure it's an ethonol issue. I emptied the gas and mixed a fresh batch using fuel stablilizer. still surging. Has anyone tried this product?

I’ve tried about all of them, except that one. Nothing seems to clean a clogged jet but cleaning the jet or replacing it. That has been my experience. I’m having a similar problem with a big tiller. But, since the choke doesn’t have to be on fully, some gas must be going through the partially clogged jet, so I’m hoping the carb cleaner will reach the plug and dissolve it over time. If not…new carb. Mine is a Kohler. Never done one of their carbs…yet.

Best of luck.

A carb jet cleaning tool can come in handy. It has all sizes.

To be determined

You will probably need burn entire tank of fuel for it clean carb. Is this an inverter or reg generator?

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

regular. Powerhorse 9000 from northern tool. I guess I just need to pull the carb. I had wanted to avoid that.

Yeah, the only way that I have found to effectively clean a clogged carb is to pull it, take it apart, and clean it. Sea Foam, mechanic in a bottle, berryman's B-12, etc...those are all just maintenance. They will help keep a carb clean, but they won't un-clog a clogged one.

Yep. This is what I do. Just put in a plug and play carb.

To clean a carb, it should be submerged in carb cleaner for a certain amount of time. Then rinsed and blown out with compressed air.

I have used it many times, it does work, but it is not automatic, could take a tank or 2 of gas before it is fixed.

My 6hp motor on one of my duck boats, few months ago had carb issues, in the past I have used this stuff, but this time just bought a new carb off Amazon, $35, I’ll for sure do that gain in the future. And I always run ethanol free.

Bob, that is a servo carb. I cleaned one once. I submerged in B12 and vibrated container with a palm sander. A redneck vibrating parts cleaner, so to speak. I am retired so needed a project.

Unless you just need a project, replace carb. That screw on side of the bowl should be a drain.

I use Marine Stabil and drain the carb after use. Seems to work for me.

I can shut off the fuel and let it run dry. Might be the thing to do. up

When it's running spray a foaming carb cleaner in it until it dies. Let it set 30 min and then crank it up, Repeat if needed. You can also pour some of the bottle fuel treatments like Starbrite straight in the carb and get the same results.

It'll clear out the jets but you'll still have crap floating around waiting to get sucked up the main and clog it when you need it.

BigBob, I also run things like chainsaws, weed eaters and lawnmowers dry if I know I won’t need to use them anytime soon. When I can find it, I buy gas with ethanol.

Yes. I have used it and will continue to use it. I've resuscitated carbs so bad that I had to pour this stuff full strength in the fuel inlet and hand cranked with the choke on to get it into the carb as much as possible, then let it sit overnight just to get it to run. After 15 minutes runtime with this mixed into the gas, the engine was running smooth as new.

It has worked for me every time I've used it.

it's a strange world when replacing a carb is cheaper than the amount of additive you need to buy each year to protect a carb

right!!! I just ordered a new carb for one of my Honda gen sets. I can replace it in 1/6 of the time and for not much more than a rebuild kit cost.

The fuel additive works… until it doesnt

All I can say is that you should never leave gas in something long term then try to run it through.
BTDT more times than I want to admit. When you get crap gasoline sucking hard through those
tiny holes, it get debris lodged in there extra hard and it's a pain to get it cleaned out. Had to
clean all manners of small engines and outboards and motorcycles and everything else with a
carburetor. Change filters often and use fresh gasoline and drain and dispose of questionable
fuel. It sure ain't worth it to me to have to diddle with something to make it run
