I know that lease well and I know of the contact listed on that lease. His lease is right off Highway 67. It’s an oil field traffic nightmare. Had a buddy on that lease for several years. Never killed anything that amounted to much more than a cull. Definitely not anything like pictured. I had to pass through his lease to get ours. He is just far enough away that there isn’t much if any mule deer. Maybe a straggler here and there but it’s rare. Never seen a deer with mass like that in the 12 years I hunted in that area. The main feeder road the oil field uses goes right through his property and his deer camp hookup is 50 yds off the road.

As far as the contact goes…….i have heard enough stories to know I wouldn’t ever consider it nor recommend it to anyone. They have had quite the turnover on that property almost every year.

Do your homework is all I can say.

we were looking for a new ranch in mexico yrs ago, land owner is showing us pics of deer that had been killed on the ranch, as i was scrolling thru them i noticed me holding a 23 in 10 point i had killed on a close ranch also 3 pics or so later had a pic of my hunting bud 12 pt 172 in deer, landowner was talking so fast he never even noticed. we figured out later that packet of pics was passed around by the landowners to show prospects. we left wondering if he had a used car lot in nuevo laredo.

In 2009 I was fortunate to take a B&C buck - scored 201 and netted 199. Few years later I am looking at a site where a guy was selling package hunts on a ranch and guess whose deer and picture were featured?? Called him up and told him to take it down immediately or I would sue him - was down the next day. There are some folks out there with no morals at all.

Nothing wrong with a few key bumps in the morning to get you thru the day….

The number of vehicles on these oil lease roads will far outnumber the deer population. Drive down Highway 67 at night and to the north there are more lights in the pasture than there are in the city of San Angelo. South side of 67 is not nearly as bad, but the deer numbers in that general area are way down. Water is also a problem, but there is no problem finding someone that will lease it the property to you.
