My wife has mentioned getting one. We have mostly wood floors downstairs. Carpet is only in bedrooms.
She said her friends say they work good. Any thoughts? It is a pain to constantly sweep the floors.

They do a pretty good job. If you have inside pets, you might be surprised at the amount of critter fur they’ll collect.

There’s nothing quite like finding where a roomba smeared dog barf all over your house.

Got one about two months ago. It's great. Of course it won't get 100% in tight corners or around / in between furniture legs, but it still does a very good job.
X2 on the dog hair.

I have a small 6hp, high CFM, Rigid shop vac that is a bare floor machine. You can see pet hair come from three feet away to it.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Ours is [censored] retarded. I got so tired of playing “find the Roomba” that we turned it off. The dumbass goes into a room, then gets lost, spends 3 hours cleaning that one room because it can’t find the open door and return to base. Or, it continuously gets stuck under the couch, where it knows is off limits, or gets stuck under the kitchen table amongst the chair legs.
Its tracks its self every time it leaves base. One night it left its base, made a direct path across the house into the laundry room, made 2 turns and ended up behind the open door, then called it quits.

Won’t replace your vacuum or broom but is definitely worth it as a supplement. It is disgusting how much stuff it picks up that you miss.

I had one for years, it did a great job on my downtairs floors, I had 2 dogs. It lasted about 6 years and then my house got hit my lightening and fried it.
Now of days they have the one that will empty itself, I would get that one if I was buying new today.

My wife got one of the high end ones a couple of years back as a combo Christmas gift from her daughter and mother, it is still in the box that has never been opened.

We got one in November when Amazon was having a 1/2 price sale. Really surprised how good it works.

We have the Shark self emptying vacuum and it picks up quite a bit. I like it, keeps the house cleaner in between actually vacuuming. It doesnt completely replace a vacuum but it will still pick up quite a bit even right after you vacuum the whole house yourself.

We bought a newer self empty unit with lidar on it last year. Brand was Uoni (Amazon China crap). It's still going strong, have to take the brush out of it every couple weeks and cut the girls hair out of it. Other than that it's been nice. No dog barf/poop accidents yet......

We bought one and it seemed to require a PHD in vacuuming to set it's boundaries and all that crap. It's in the box somewhere or wife gave it away.

Our last one was a Shark brand. It was a POS so it got sent to the shop where it actually did a good job. It fell asleep between trailer tires and met an untimely death

Love watching videos with them rolling up on dog crap and it smears it everywhere. Epic!

I've had Roborock S5 for about 3 years now and it works well, even has a mop function but I rarely use it. My floors are dark and pet hair is pretty visible so before I always felt like I needed to sweep. Usually dump the can on this thing at night and hit start when I leave for for work in the morning.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.
