Our 50 year old Remington 700 has sn old school scope base with windage adjustment. It was a matter of time before that scope base loosened. Poi started wandering to the right, sure enough it was loose by a couple full turns.
I want to replace the entire base and rings with something Weaver or detachable Talleys or etc. but I need 26mm rings. The old Swarovski Habicht stays with this rifle for future generations, that will never change.
I can’t find 26mm rings at all, let alone a set of gloss ones. Got any pointers?

Now that i got them coming, seriously considering just to re-use the old base with some vibratite vc3 to retain the classic style. I have a little leftover, it is like medium strength loctite but you allow it to cure before re-assembly, and can remove and re -install the screws a few times it still works. Be perfect for this old adjustable base and rings.
We will see how she looks, the set i bought still retain some of that. But I am also worried about the view through this old scope. Like, if adjusting the old scope makes the crosshairs appear off center in the tube. I can’t have that!
But now i need to find a top notch gunsmith to glass and pillar bed, and free float the barrel, without affecting the natural beauty. Maybe stabilize the fore end with a steel or titanium bar. 50 year old stock looks amazing, but some minor shrinkage and warping is apparent.
