Wife and I had balances when we got married. Paid them off, then again. Haven’t carried a balance on CC for several years, they get paid off every month. It’s a hard habit to break.

Like most of yall, I hate owing anybody anything and despise paying interest! That being said, I run just about everything through a Scheels card and set it up to pay off every month. It’s no hassle and I like the rewards they send me.

A 5% discount on tires is a pretty lousy discount and hardly a reason to use their branded credit card. I buy all of our tires from Discount and I always talk them down significantly more than 5% from the list price.

If it's in the news, it's skewed. Not enough info there.
There's people that can run that much up in a week but don't carry a balance.

People that live on cards are in deep dookey very soon.

Lots of people are struggling right now so I’m not surprised at all and more surprised it’s actually not more. I’ll run up 10-15k a month on cards but thank god I can pay them off and snag all those wonderful cash back dollars.

When you're young, maybe newly married, moving into your first house, it is VERY easy to get in a little above your head.

I think some are offering that now

With the tires I buy it is normally about 50 to 70 bucks. Never tried haggling with them because it isn't worth the time to me. It doesn't matter to me how I pay and the balance gets paid the moment the bill shows up.

Eons ago I caught shoplifters at a retail store for my college job. Caught one fella and his mother stealing. He was on a long-expired student visa and his mother was also here illegally
Couldn’t figure out why he had about twenty credit cards in his wallet. All legit and all in his name. The arresting police officer explained to me in a roundabout way it’s a well known scam to open one card, charge it full, before it affects the credit, open another to pay the first in full, open another to pay off the second, and so on.
Charge everything to the max with no intent on ever paying a dime before they return to their country.
Asked him how much one could get away with, his only response was “more than you want to know”

America has become WAY too soft on crime and disrespect to our Nation's laws and the good citizens that live here. We're killing ourself and many are too ignorant to know it.

Plenty of one upper opportunity here!

We have not carried a balance in more than 20 years.

As far as credit cards, I have one. Only use it for fuel or emergencies and paid off monthly.

When I married my ex wife she brought a CRAP load of CC debt w/interest rates to the table along with a crap load of student loans that she couldn't pay for.

Yep, your debt is mine now baby I'll take care of it and we'll be way better off for it down the road......I'll do what's needed, let's just focus on the future..

The future is me paying off a chit load of her debt and paying child support and then some now.

If I ever get close to a woman again, the first mention of her credit card or student loan debt I am OUT! Period.

It reeks of irresponsibility and future issues.

Just stay away from those vile creatures, amigo. You’re better off rolling the dice in Vegas, whether they have debt or not.

We ran a touch over $90k on CC’s last year, none of that was used to pay mortgages or car payments or child care. We paid $21 in interest.

Friend of mine ran just over $750,000 on her Home Depot CC last year. Pretty sure she built her house from the rewards

I am actually shocked that number isn't higher. We charge almost everything to our card, but pay it off monthly without ever having to pay a dime in interest. We use our rewards points toward free vacations about every 18 to 24 months.

Yep, that is how we are taking our trip this summer because of points.
