So I was just looking back at this hunting season and I believe it was 1 of my most successful seasons all around. Total animals is: 3 deer (1 big buck, and 2 Does), 4 dove (not the best, but only went dove hunting for opening weekend. Not a lot of birds seen.), 5 hogs (more to be [censored] the rest of the year), 6 ducks, and 4 Rabbits(so far).. How was your season?

I don't have pic's of everything, but her is what I do have.[Linked Image]

Absolutely the worst season in over 20 years! The landowner put goats on the ranch at the end of January last year and of course they ate everything that the deer would eat. I was on the southwest end of the lease, and along around August the deer began disappearing, till finally none were coming into the feeder. I had set up a remote TC and could see the goats were climbing the fence or jumping it into the pen 6 weeks before gun season opened, by opening day all the deer were gone! confused2 bang

Goats are the worst. I've passed on leases when I found out there were goats.

Myself, I killed 2 bucks (8 point and spike) and 11 hogs.
My brother killed 2 deer (10 point and doe) and 6 hogs.
We both saw a a lot of deer and hogs almost every hunt.

Not a great season for us after having to move across the road. Wife did shoot a nice 8pt but I ended up only shooting a decent sized spike.

It was good. My son got a nice 8 pt day after Thanksgiving. Widest we have taken at 18.5 inches inside. Saw plenty of deer but just needed 1.

My brother who has never been hunting came with us that weekend and we get in blind and son dropped the buck 30 minutes later. Brought the luck. He thought it was very cool. I didn't have to do any work so that was nice.

That was nice nice 8pt too, and Health is one hog killing machine. I enjoyed meeting and also braking bread with him and his brother.

One of my better years. Got a 13 pointer opening day and my disabled friend got an 8 pointer and a large spike all by 8am out of the same blind.

And I was selected as the cover photo for November

50 years hunting, 2023 was my best season for a lot of reasons.

Mine was bad. Surgery kept me from hunting much. Grandsons saw some deer and hogs but nothing really nice. One buck, no pigs taken. No turkeys seen.

I didn't kill anything this year (could have) but my kids did, and that was the goal. Kid's missed a few & WE learned some lessons. All-in-all it was another great season shared with a group of great folks that I sure do appreciate and like being around.

Kids are bugging me daily to go back to the lease...........We have Spring Turkey, rabbits, & song dogs coming up.....Hopefully I can put them on some turkey because they are pretty pumped about that.

They had their first experience with turkey on a friend's ranch last year and I've never heard the end of it, which is a good thing..

Odd season for us.
Elk turned out ok, both got one. Me a cow , spouse a nice spike. Best elk meat we've had in a few years.
I did not draw an antelope tag so I was the driver /spotter for the spouse on his hunt, took a nice young buck after I watched some big guys look me over at the truck while he was stalking something not there, lol.
We had run of the ranch for deer season and I took a nice buck we had not seen before.
Spouse [censored] footed around a big buck and let it get away with no shot.
Been trapping since and came across a mt lion out calling, took the 105 lb tom.
Caught a couple of beavers too out of the creek below the ranch house.

Found out yesterday my muley buck was 5.5 yrs old.

Thank you sir.

I had a WT tag but the bucks moved out before season opened, doe too
Might get in a day hog hunt over the eclipse week, we'll be down then.
We'll trap some beaver when the creek opens up again.

Good luck to you all still at it.

A few hogs, bobcat, couple of coyotes and my daughter got a buck. She decided to hunt with a handgun late in the season after several deer would pass close to the blind. No luck in that department but i think she's hooked on it as long as her 308 is close by.
