I inherited this gun from Dad. His story on it: Two women moved into the house behind him when the owner (one of the women's great aunt) passed. They called Dad in a fuss one day asking him to come right away. They had found this gun wrapped in oilcloth in the back of a drawer in a closet and wanted NOTHING to do with any gun, so they asked him to please remove it & keep it if he so chose.

Dad knew the aunt's husband had been in the service and suspected there might be some history attached to it, so he sent the gun to Smith & Wesson for information. You can see the notarized letter that Roy Jenks (S&W historian) sent back with it.

It really ought to go to someone that collects and can appreciate it and care for it like it should be. It's been carried and shows it. If the letter from S&W is accurate, it was possibly carried by someone in the Japanese army during WWII.

That's a very historic piece, sir. You might consider posting it over at Gunboards.com where there are a bunch of world-class Japanese militaria collectors who I am certain would pay more than you are asking -- and with a letter of provenance signed by Roy Jinks himself!
