I need a new thermal for varmint hunting, it will be on a 22 hornet and my max shooting range will be around 175 yards. Small, light and a battery that is rechargeable and lasts 8-10 hours. Looking for 2-3 grand range on price. I’ve always been a pulsar fan and would like to stay with them but I’m not super loyal to them either,

I wish I could at least try out all the different options, but that hasn't happened yet so my own experience will likely remain very limited. However, I have owned and used an AGM TS35-384 Adder, and I think it would fit that profile nicely. It features the conventional scope form factor, which to me is highly desirable on a bolt gun. The menus are relatively easy to deal with and optical performance is quite good---certainly adequate for your purposes IMO. One great feature is the long lasting charge...you can run the thing for up to 10 or 12 hours on a single charge, according to the maker. I have used it for up to five hours at a time and never got anywhere near needing a recharge.

Pulsar and/or Iray may have something comparable. I don't know and I'm not looking---and for the same reason I stay off showroom floors where there are Corvettes and BMWs and the like.

Last weekend I got to try out an AGM Rattler TS-384 mounted on a Ruger Ranch 223. It's small, lightweight, and I was really impressed with the clarity of the unit. I'm a Pulsar fan, but I'm thinking about buying one of these.

This is a new iRay offering and Anthony did an impressive job reviewing and discussing it's features. If I was in the market I believe this one would make the short list.

This coming from a Pulsar guy...I've got an XP38LRF and I wouldn't even consider another one without the LRF.

It looks legit but it’s 5500 bucks. I’ll see what other variants they have.

You might be able to pick up a used XP38 or XP50 in the price range and both are awesome optics. I like my 38 so much I haven't seen the need to upgrade...just a thought.

Here’s a review on the Pulsar XG50. This is the older discontinued model but they are still available at Europtic for under 3,000. This is a 640. I have one and it’s well worth the price.
