I hear the coyotes howling like crazy almost in my front yard. Go out and put the Foxpro at about 70 yards. Go sit at my bench rest, put my rifle with the red kill light on it on some sand bags. I cranked up the dying rabbit blues and started scanning with my thermal scanner looking through it with my left eye. I expected everything to come in from the left front a wooded area so I’m ready for a right hand shot. I shoot right or left handed so I’m always good either way. A coyote comes in from the right and trots up to about 20 feet from the caller. I shoulder it lefty and kick on the kill light. I then realize my night vision in my left eye is blown from looking through the scanner with that eye. I almost shot him in the butt as he made his exit as my eye had adjusted enough by then. Lesson learned.
