I asked this question on the Grendel Forum and got no useful answers. I want to know if the bullet would be tough enough for use on Pigs. Apparently it was originally designed for use in the 264 Win Mag, so if it’ll survive those velocities, I’m thinking I could use it in the lower velocity Grendel for pigs. The good news is that you can actually buy the bullet. The ‘why’ on the bullet is that I want higher bullet speed than I can get with 123 gr SSTs in a 16” barrel.
Have any of you ever used this bullet in any 6.5 mm rifle? Any info is good info.

How much deader do you need the pig to be?

I’ve killed enough deer to fill a house with their 85 grain BTHP in a 243. I wouldn’t try to blow though a quartering towards me shoulder blade with it but I don’t take those type of shots anyway.

Silly me. The 100 gr Sierra HP is the one I need user info on. The 80 grainers were copper bullets I was looking at.
If and when Nosler never makes 100 gr BTs again, and I run out of what I have, I’d like a similar fairly inexpensive alternate. Most of what I use the Grendel for is pigs and the occasional coyote. I have used the 95 gr V-Max on a few pigs, and it worked fine, but since the 100 gr HP was originally for the 264 Mag at 3200+ speed, I’m thinking it might hold together Ok at 2600 in the grendel.

I thought the lightest one they made in 6.5 was a 120 but that caliber isn’t my thing.

100 grain Gameking BTHP are what I’m currently using in my 243. I got a ton of factory rounds in a GB auction so I don’t load for them but every deer I’ve shot with them was DRT.

I have not run the 100 grain, but I load A LOT of the 90 grain Nosler and 95 grain V-Max. Both have performed well for my customers.

I have shot several deer and one pig with that bullet. Deer were neck shot and dropped right there .Pig was neck shot also but put up a fit in circles 15 or so yards. Would not recommend this bullet at lower velocities. My load was 40 grains of H4350 and CCI-450 primer. Did not chrono that load but it was probably around 2700 fps. in a 6.5 x 47.

Interesting! If I use this bullet in a 6.5 Grendel, the velocity would be below 2700 for sure. Are you saying that the bullet, at lower speed, would not open up adequately? Being that it’s a varmint bullet, I’d expect it to perform better on pigs at lower speed by holding together better.

I could just buy some of these 100 gr Sierras and shoot a couple of pigs, if I had some pigs to shoot. They have vanished, so I am stuck with asking you guys.
