I swear, that bunch could care less about what folks are having to pay to get by in this economy as long as they get theirs. Based on their decision yesterday, not that I really expected anything else from them, there’s no way I would buy a new vehicle manufactured by them.

I found it interesting that he said he knows that a lot of his members will not vote for Biden, yet he still endorses Biden.
Seems that the more appropriate thing to do would have been to endorse no one, given the admitted split in his membership.
He wouldn’t even listen to Trump…at least the Teamsters guy met with Trump.

What did they do , other than endorse Biden ? Their president called Trump a Scab. "Donald Trump is a scab," Fain said. "Donald Trump is a billionaire, and that's who he represents. If Donald Trump ever worked in auto plant, he wouldn't be a UAW member -- he'd be a company man trying to squeeze the American worker."

UAW endorsed the party that wants 2/3 of new manufactured vehicles to be electric by 2032, basically sending their jobs to China.

My grandmother was a UAW member and Ford employee from 1938 to 1982. She had the temper of a honey badger with rabies and would tear your head off if you said one bad thing about the Union. Her demeanor worked out really well because she got bored in retirement and decided to become a state parole officer. My oldest uncle also worked for Ford as a chief engineer and retired some years back. He was also a UAW member but not as fanatical as my grandmother. My youngest uncle had a little more sense than wanting to be a cog in a big machine and founded his own company that produced 35 million a year in Revenue before he sold it off to his son last year. The unions did a whole lot for Michigan and the manufacturing base in Michigan changed the structure of society up there. Many very brilliant people gravitated to blue collar jobs instead of going to college so you run into the weird circumstance of occasionally stumbling across someone with a 140 plus IQ that is a tradesman of one sort or another but completely brilliant.
Today the unions are simply fat corrupt pigs that are an impediment to success in auto manufacturing.
Trolling? Heck no, I meant every word of it.

The have always been "fat corrupt pigs that are an impediment to success in auto manufacturing" given their abolishment of capitalism. Michigan didn't get saved, it got created. And it's a product of union construction...one of the most failed States in the Union economically. This is not about politics. It's about how utterly Socialist the mere hint of unionism is.
Pass the gravy.

And it's a product of union construction...one of the most failed States in the Union economically. This is not about politics. It's about how utterly Socialist the mere hint of unionism is. The ills that you are describing happened over a 100-year time frame. At one point Michigan was responsible for a staggering portion of the gross domestic product of the United States. It wasn't a failed state economically at all and was instead an engine that drove the US economy. After the end of the second World War the majority of the world's manufacturing capabilities had been bombed into non-existence. United States had about a 20-year run where they had no significant competition in manufacturing and that's when the unions became a massive drag on manufacturing instead of a minor inconvenience. The UAW at one point had close to 700,000 members. I think they're under 180,000 now and auto manufacturing is slowly moving to non-union States and the majority of domestically produced vehicles are no longer made by UAW members or in Michigan. My all American v8 Ram truck was made in Mexico and my Tacomas were made right here in Texas by non union members. I don't mind trade unions. One of my uncles was a union carpenter and the union provided a retirement program for them along with healthcare, and trade skills training. That is the type of Union I would be willing to support.

Every word in that article is true. My biological father is from that part of the country. I've observed the rise and fall of Michigan sometimes firsthand but mostly second hand. My adopted dad was a police officer there for years. On the upside Detroit is making a pretty strong comeback today. My youngest uncle has been investing heavily in commercial real estate up there and usually has GSA tenants of one sort or another. The FBI SWAT guys or whatever you call them is one of his major tenants and he says the property leases for about double per square foot and their checks never bounce.

The majority of cars sold in the United States are not built by UAW members. Union membership in the UAW is less than 1/3 of what it was at their peak. They have single-handedly driven production of motor vehicles out of Detroit and those jobs are never going to return. Those contract concessions that they were crowing about getting recently are simply going to hasten their demise.

The UAW was founded in 1935. Earlier on they did great things for the workers. Time passed and they became only interested in their own accumulation of power and not the wellbeing of their members.
