Do hogs tend to stay bedded like deer during days with gusty winds? I've got a big boar that's been showing up fairly regular this week on my cell camera and tomorrow is the only day I can hunt him until next week when rain is supposed to set in.

TIA

What I have seen is that hogs TEND to be less active on a very windy day in the sense that I don't see them out in the open as much. However, some of my best hunting has been during very high winds. The beauty there is that if you play the wind, not only can they not smell you, but when when wind is high enough, they can't even hear you. We had a hunt 3 or 4 years ago in 30 mph winds and I had to shout the countdown for my partner to hear me, but the hogs could not.

However, wind, rain, snow, whatever, they won't stay bedded for long. If a storm front moved through with the first day of high winds on the day you plan to hunt, I would suggest that might not be ideal. Day 2 or 3 of high winds? By then they are hungry and used to the high wind. Your chances aren't diminished by much over normal, calmer wind hunting.

Sometimes in high winds, the only animals I see moving other than cattle are coyotes and hogs.

The one I'm after. He last showed this morning around 7:30.

In my experience, the wind tends to kick them up a bunch. Only hogs I see on extremely windy days are usually moving VERY fast, and don't tend to mill about.

If you're not out there, you won't find out.

Pretty much the definitive answer for all hunting and
fishing activities. Animals are outside 24/7 and
fish are wet every day all day long

I'd have to agree the pigs hold up on the first real windy day. Although you might find them moving in heavy cover. Pigs tend to move on their stomachs and will venture out to feed regardless of the wind on the subsequence days.

I’m butt deep in nocturnal hogs. Very rarely see them.
