BS move but yes dealers have been doing it for several years. Most any junkyard will have some donut spares you can buy fairly cheap.
Anyone buying a new car should always ask for an extra (third) key fob and spare tire when closing the deal.

Just now finding this out? You probably should have done a better inspection when you bought the car. Good luck.

Been this way for decades. Even on a full size truck getting a full size spare is an option.

Seriously? Who looks for a spare time when buying a brand new car?

Just bought my wife a Lexus and we did. In fact the salesman showed us the spare.

Only time I've ever bought a car that didn't come with a spare was because the car came with run-flat tires. Since they ride like garbage, I swapped out for non-run flats and added a flat tire sealant/compressor kit.

Everything else has come with a spare as standard.

Honda CRV hybrids don’t but their non-hybrids do. Needed the space for the batteries I guess.

I do but I'm trained to do a operational inspection on a vehicle I'm going to drive. That being said, I wouldn't tell you any of this is your fault.

On a similar note - I bought a new Dodge P/U in 91 and around 6-7 years later I had a flat. Dropped the spare for the first time that of course was covered in dirt/grime and wouldn't you know it...damn thing only had 5 lug holes whereas my truck had 6 lugs. Ended up going back to the dealership and had a heck of a battle until they finally gave me the right wheel.

All unmarked vehicles had a spare. The marked car flats were changed by a tire truck that kept about 10 Crown Vic wheels/tires in it ready to go.

Nope...just a consumer that checks what I'm buying BEFORE I buy it.

How much help did you expect AFTER you bought the car a year ago?

Luckily it was discovered locally and not in the middle of nowhere on a long distance trip.
