What is a safe ventilation? I have had this heater for a long time and this camper set up, but I have yet to run it all night while I'm sleep because I don't want to kill myself....I got co2 alarms but don't want to completely depend on that. I suspect this is plenty ventilation here, tail gate down... What about this, tailgate down..Sliding window open??

I normally vent front window by cab and have a little battery fan I use as noise and air flow
that silver air foil insulation works awesome on windows

What about running it in my garage with door down? Seems like plenty ventilation here, my garage door is not airtight lol.

not efficient, just vent the cab window. So just the window from camper to the cab is enough? I do leave that open too, and that is where my head is when I sleep. I guess what is good as well it would draw oxygen in from that end of the camper where my head is??

I have battery CD detector and its never alarmed. It has when I have all windows closed though. I also use a battery powered fan in cab window, mainly for noise but keeps air moving some i cant run my all night though, it gets to hot

The good news is if it's not vented properly, you won't ever know it

Battery CO2 monitor and a cheap heart rate monitor on your wrist is all you need. Crack that front window or the lowest spot that you can. CO2 is heavier than air so it fills from the ground up.

Crack that front window or the lowest spot that you can. CO2 is heavier than air so it fills from the ground up. That is interesting, I actually like a set up with my tailgate down, hatch open, some type of tent around it, sounds like there is plenty ventilation there. I'm trying all kinds of tent ideas with my tailgate down and hatch up, including some wood pannels. I like this set-up, gives me a lot more room, easier to get in and out of the camper. Getting out of that camper dark 30 in the morning with tailgate/hatch down is a PITA.

Pretty sure he drives a Nissan Frontier, so 5-5.5 feet long No not that short. I'm 5.9, and got plenty of room, long bed was a requirement when I bought it, purposely for camping. It's a 2015 Nissan Frontier 4x4, I bought it new, I'll be getting a new truck in the not-too-long distant future...This one has 115k miles on it.

Those are really cool. That makes me want to speed up my next truck purchase, I would not want to mess with buying one of those with my current truck, but that camper is just what I need to get. I have been looking for something like that, I like how it is hard shell top, and pops up.

Can't recall where I read it, either on Buddy Heater website or instruction manual but they recommended venting windows 1" x so many horizontal inches...

Off Mr. Buddy website, "The standard ventilation required is 1 square inch of ventilation for every 1000 BTUs." I crack two 18" opposite side windows in trailer near where the heater runs about 1-1.5" ea. creating a good cross envelope of sufficient venting.

Doing that, I still get the 4000/9000 BTU Heat Hog at low to low med heat getting the trailer to a good optimal internal temperature. Guessing 70 degrees or so...

Battery CO2 monitor and a cheap heart rate monitor on your wrist is all you need. Crack that front window or the lowest spot that you can. CO2 is heavier than air so it fills from the ground up. CO2 is indeed heavier than air, but it is NOT the CO2 that will 'get' you, but rather CO (which is NOT heavier than air - only slightly lighter than air somuchso that it doesn't 'separate' (go up or down)) ! CO2 = carbon dioxide ; only 'dangerous' by displacing oxygen/air. CO = Carbon Monoxide - dangerous even in small-amounts long-term because it will accumulate in bloodstream. 'Venting' at the bottom or top for CO doesn't make a difference - only avoiding exposure (and yes having SOME venting to reduce concentrations buildup ). If you wanna 'sleep safely' the way to go these days is NOT a propane/buddy heater, but rather a diesel vented heater (around same price as a big-buddy, but MUCH safer and very economical on diesel fuel!) - https://www.amazon.com/SILVEL-Porta...fos.18ed3cb5-28d5-4975-8bc7-93deae8f9840
