Buy you a new shorterbarrel. It costs as much to have one cut and threaded as a new barrel.

some people like silver and gold
I like brass and lead with a little powder in between

Have you considered the 6 ARC? It uses the same bolt as your Grendel. Just buy a shorter barrel.

I have a Faxon 6 arc barrel like the 14.5 he used in this video. I bought it for $140 new.

I believe the 6 arc has a more promising future than the Grendel or spc.

I'm heavily invested in 6.8 ARP barreled pig guns and ammo/reloading supplies for it so I will stick with that.

You have plenty of 6.5 ammo - plenty of ammo is a biggie when deciding how you will feed a toy.
You have a working gun.
Buy another upper with shorter, legal barrel unless you want another tax stamp for SBR, put your can on it and go.
If you must have a short barrel and don't want another tax stamp, put pistol brace on lower.
After you use shorter upper for a while, decide if you want to keep the longer upper or if you want to sell.....or you could build another lower later and have a dedicated rifle and pistol with can.
PS, I love to help people spend their money...

Cheers,

On New Years Eve my youngest daughter shot her first doe with her new 6.8 SPC w/110 grain Sierra Pro Hunters. Shot was pushing 250 yrds but she was comfortable so I let her, deer ran 30 yrds and crashed. I was really surprised with the amount of damage that bullet caused. Blew a silver dollar sized hole in the crease of the shoulder at the entry wound, and what was left of the bullet was sticking out of the hide on the other side. Lungs and most of the liver were jello, and lots of bloodshot hide. Dumped an impressive amount of energy for a rifle that's so pleasant for a kid to shoot. Hopefully will shoot a few more with it before season's end.
