I hunted yesterday in the thickest fog of my life. But in my momarsh, with my 9 inch monitor I rigged, it went pretty smoothly. I’ll take fog over rain.

Yeah I had an interesting morning yesterday. For the first time ever, my motor didn't crank right up. Pretty sure I had water get in a spark plug boot if not both. Got some dielectric grease in them now. Once I finally got that squared away my Lowrance started trippin out and then completely died so I couldn't follow my trails. The slough I run to the spot is about a half mile run through 2-3 inches of water. I missed a turn in Albuquerque and ended up down a dead end road. I need to work on using my phone for navigation I suppose. Glad I got a light hull so I could get myself unstuck. Got to the spot that was holding a ton of pintail, dropped off my stuff, then I see headlights coming around the corner. Not sure how they drove in, but luckily they didn't setup too close.
Got 4 GWT and a gaddy pretty quick then passed on everything hoping for a sprig. When they finally showed up, they were all in one big group. Good luck decoying 50 with cloudy skies and no wind. Got them to circle a few times but they wouldn't commit.
After this rain I think I know where they'll be... and I KNOW you can't drive or walk in there. Gonna try to hit it tomorrow.

No hunting this weekend or next. Family time. I did get 10 hunts in during December. My hunting started improving mid month. But has still been spotty at times.
If this rain does what I'm thinking it will I will have some nice flooded green timber in east texas to hunt in January. Hope to get another 10-12 hunts in next month. We just need a major cold front, one of those polar vortex type.
Merry Christmas to all!

Congrats. This winter freeze in Nebraska and Kansas hopefully will push birds down.
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

We hunted Christmas Eve. I thought we were gonna have to build an ark to get out of there with all the rain dumping. We were covered up with ring necks with a few cans mixed in. Fun day overall.

Eastern Colorado had tons of ducks and geese on our way back up from Texas yesterday, way more than we saw going down. Should be moving on down for you all but temps during day up this way are supposed to be above normal during the day and we're single digits at night. Ponds were frozen on the Eastern Palins coming back but big water was still open.
