I haven’t talked to my accountant. Do any of you guys take customers hunting as a business expense?

My brother told me that if I hunt on the lease, do not bother. He is a CPA and former revenuer.

My neighbor had a lease for clients. He never hunted a day in his life and wrote off everything.

Tax laws for entertainment have changes, so my info is old.

A guy on my lease did. He is a tightwad.

Can honestly say, I never saw him there.

Tax laws changed a few years ago. Check with your bean counter.

I write the majority of my lease expenses off because I take customers out there for “continuing education”…since entertainment expenses got pulled.

I have an acquaintance who said I should write it all off. Do a hunters education course there, etc. I decided to google him and he is a charged and convicted tax evader. Lucky he is not in prison.

The business would have to be profitable to put up with the risk. Most folks that are customers can be Aholes on free hunts and risky the way I have seen them treat hunts. It can be amazing how many friends, family or customers you have right before hunting season when you have land or access.

Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock!

Ah the good ol' days when vendors would show up offering to take us on an all expense paid fishing or hunting trip. The tax laws changed somewhere around 2010 and those freebies disappeared. Now they show up with food and occasionally booze. I miss the free trips.
