All my life I have wanted to hunt there. I finally was blessed with that opportunity. This is what I made of it. Oh well. I was fortunate enough to add a new species to my kill list, and I’ve had a blast. This is some amazing country.

Where did you hunt?

Draw a line from eagle pass east towards Cotulla, south along 35 to Laredo and then from Laredo back to eagle pass. That is the golden triangle.

Regardless, if you have never hunted in south Texas, it’s a ton of fun. Hard to beat the diversity of wildlife that inhabits that part of the state.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

That was just east of Laredo. I’m currently right outside of Cotulla.

Hunted a ranch right outside Raymondville a few years ago. The ranch manager brought around some breakfast sausage they made out of javelina. Was actually very good. I guess if you get enough spices in there, it covers up the javelina taste… food

I was in Cotulla day before yesterday. Incredible how green it still is….mesquites are still holding their leaves. I cannot ever remember them having foliage in late December.

Good. Anyone who tells you they're not good to eat either:

1) Repeats chit they read on the internet or heard from others who read chit on the internet.

2) Just don't want to clean them because they stink, or are too f'n lazy to clean them anyway (like pigs).

3) They have tried Javalina that wasn't handled properly and tasted like chit because of it.

They are good eating critters if done right. It's a shame we are only allowed 20 a year. smile

I always have to try things for myself because of hearing this or that isn’t worth eating and finding out for myself they were wrong.

For some reason, I feel safer if the Sneakster is nearby. Here's hoping you are out by Los Angeles.

Los Angeles is about 10 minutes east and slightly north down SH 97 from Cotulla. I hunt about four or five miles from there.

They used to have a "place" there named Ruby's. Bet you would've loved it.

when I was a kid, some family friends had a company lease near Laredo. nearly 30,000 acres. had no idea how good we had it. I miss South Texas so much. Praying I get back down there one day.
