20 years ago Barnes had a bad reputation. Barrell Fouling.
How is their bullets now? Is there still barrell fouling?
Hoping to hear from actual users....

You either like them, or hate them, no matter what the info says. I am a strong believer in them in multiple calibers.
My heavy barrel 7 RemMag shoots 160 gr TSX better than any other bullet out there.

My 270 and 6.5x55 love the Barnes ttsx and lrx 129gr with r26. Do have to clean more often but can't beat the accuracy with 129gr

Coming from the other side of the fence.... I am not a Barnes copper bullet fan. With that said, I believe Barnes has gone to fantastic lengths to turn lemons into lemonade. There was a lot wrong with their bullets or at least a lot that was not self evident to the average person. Sure, give them a try. It's the only way you'll really know.
"Group think" is not thinking. It is the lack of independent thought. It is a cancer of the mind.

no point in them with a Muzzle velocity under 3300. The faster the better… my best results where 22 cal 53 @ 3800 and 257 cal 80 @ 3850

Wouldn't have been my first choice, but (bullet availability being what it has recently been) I've now seen impressive results, accuracy-wise, using Barnes TTSX in a couple of rifles.
With their grooved design, compared with the original X bullets, there is supposed to be far less copper fouling. I certainly haven't noticed any problem thus far.
And, with far less actual bearing surface than the original Xs, expected velocities, and, presumably, pressures, for a given powder charge are, I think, more in line with cup and core bullet designs of the same weight. You still need to start low and work up when changing to these bullets, but I've been pleased with the results. YMMV.

I drove by their facility in Mona on Sunday, and see they are putting up a new building next to the original one. Certainly trying to keep up with demand, I guess.

Shot some original x bullets in my 270 Winchester and 300 Weatherby. They never shot well in the 270 but shot great in the Weatherby. Expansion was an issue big time, they just didn’t. The tsx I have loaded in 223 rem, they were ok but still liked the 60 grain partition better. Recently ordered some for a 300 BO specifically designed around the 300 BO and its velocity range. I’m going to shoot them in the blackout and a 30-30.

A couple of years ago, while trying take a cull buck out of my friends ranch, the one he was after came out as we getting to go home. Told my bud get his back pack to use it as a rest. We ranged the buck right 403yds. He was shooting his 270Bee with factory 130 Barnes TTSX and double lunged him and as I was looking through my binos I clearly saw blood spraying on the opposite side of the deer. He ran maybe 20yds and was piled up. Had an exit wound slightly larger than a silver dollar. So expansion wasn't an issue.

they have come a long way from the original X-Bullets. the relief grooves solved the pressure issue and the tipped bullets helped solve the expansion issues as well as changes in the cavity. I still believe speed helps the mono-metal bullets more than many other designs.

If you want a mono that kills, try Lehigh Tipped Extreme Chaos or the Tipped Maximum Expansion. Wife and I have been helping a land owner take care of his MLD does. These bullets KILL and do it in a hurry. We have taken 28 and the furthest that a deer has run has been about 15 yards, Distance has been 95 to 212 yards. The TEC literally makes mush out of the lungs and chest organs. Seems like they bleed to death instantly. Bullets work fantastic, the one negative is cost but once you get a load worked up you might shoot 5 a year for deer hunting. A few more if you hog hunt.

The Lehigh Controlled Chaos is the most devastating bullet I've ever shot.

I loved them back in the early to mid 90's. A custom 300 Weatherby magnum with 180 grain Barnes bullet was deadly out of a #4 Shilen Barrel. I necksized only with LE Wilson stuff and used 7831 powder. It would 1 hole at 100 yards and put 3 in less than 2 inches at 400 yards. My best gun ever. Remington action and Bell and Carson or McMillan Stock... can't remember which. Some Bastage stole it while we were eating at a cafe while hunting in Albany. The old gunsmith that built it retired on me.
I digress. I loved the Barnes bullet back then.

Ive been culling 223 & 77TMK’s out to 250 and they pretty damn violent and thumpy, but I'm open to compare since I have a few tags left

Had excellent results with Barnes LRX 7RM, 7RUM, 338RUM, all factory ammo, exceptional accuracy and great terminal results (from antelope to bull elk)--
They loaded easily for handloads in TTSX for .243win and also gave great results.
They do like to be pushed fast as stated previously. No hesitations to use them at all.

45gr TSX over a heavy dose of RL15 in 22-250 is a great deer load. Though Sometimes it will pass through a coyote without expanding.

They performed like in the ads when we shot African plains game with the .366 250-grain TSX in Namibia 15 or so years ago. Our PH was thrilled when I gifted him a box. I hear Barnes and Sierra have just been sold.

I have used an 80gr TTSX in a 257R at about 3300fps and a 101gr LRX in a 257AI at about 3200fps. They drop deer and hogs like a hammer. Very accurate, too.
