I took advantage of the great weather on Sunday and put my Volquartsen through its paces. I was quite impressed with the accuracy and overall performance of the rifle. I had 7 different brands of ammunition to run through it, with weights of 35, 40 and 45 grains. Volquartsen recommends 40 grainers, and cautions that the 35 grain bullets may not eject reliably. The very first 35 grain (CCI MaxiMag) was the only one of the entire group that failed, and it was the very first round of the 5 shot groups I was shooting. After that one failure, the rest of the MaxiMags, and all of the Hornady VMAX and Armscor 30 grain ammunition performed flawlessly. I began at 30 yards to tune the scope, and then moved to 50 yards for the balance of the ammo. 5 shot groups for 7 different brands produced sub-MOA groups for each brand. Moving out to 75 yards, the groups loosened up a bit, but I could still cover them all with a 50 cent piece. I'm a happy shooter!

Congrats on a great rifle!
I have four of their Ultra-Lites, one each in .17 HM2, .22 LR, .17 HMR and .22 WMR, and they all perform just as well.

I find it hard to grasp that 7 different factory rounds would shoot 1/3” and 1/2” groups from 30 and 50 yards but were pushing 1.2” at 75 yards.
Do not trifle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

But it is what it is. Could be that my old eyes were getting tired; or that I was getting tired; or that happy hour was close at hand and I was ready to shut my shooting session down in favor of sucking down a couple of adult beverages. No telling. Even at 1.2 inches at 75 yards, it will make life mighty miserable for the various varmints who come to feast on my chickens and guineas.
