Hi, we have a couple turkey feeders we are trying to put out and wondering what are some good options of feed to put out for them? We are located near Victoria, TX. Should we feed year-round (depending on how expensive it is and how quickly they go through it...) or only need to do certain parts of the year? Thanks.

We always just fed plain milo.

Biggest thing is to keep the feed dry. Aflatoxin has shown to be dangerous to domestic turkey and likely has some effect on wild turkey as well. Best practice if using corn or milo is to have less feed in the hopper of your feeder which means you would have to fill it with fresh feed more often.

Alfatoxin is tough on turkeys wild or domestic. For turkey I have had good luck setting the spin late closer on a good quality and having it spread chicken scratch.

They do like it, so do deer and hogs. If you are trying to grow Chufa and have hogs, well good luck.

Deer love also love milo. Put some in a little pile and they will eat it before the corn. Milo corn corn mix is what we use for turkey season. We are covered up with young turkeys in NW Burnet County. I told my brother this weekend that we need to start shooting them. When they come to the feeder they are like vacuum cleaners. They don't leave much for the deer.
