Driver side exterior door handle broke off. Third one, but the other ones were changed out by Outfitter and Assemble All. Not wanting to drag it back, I googled the repair. I think even I can do it. Googled the part and found it at Auto Zone and had it at the lcoal store. I just think it obscure they had a door handle in stock for a 21 year old Taco.

If it's a popular vehicle and a frequently broken part, it's not surprising at all that they had it. Money to be made, especially if the MFR isn't supporting the old vehicle with new parts. Congrats on the fix.

I've changed door handles on my 1998 Tacoma so my times, I can do it in my sleep. Pretty much one every 1.5-2 years. The outside is harder to do than the inside, and the outside breaks the most.

When my wife and I were dating and for a little while after we got married, she drove a Nissan Sentra. My father in law would buy every door handle he could at wrecking yards when the opportunity presented itself. They were constantly breaking.

Unbelievable morning. Mature bruisers being extremely active roaming the low brush. Does getting lots of attention. Fight in a pen. Absolutely great hunt. One buck left and leaving it for SIL. Supposed to be here between noon and 1. A little after 1, get the text where he is just now leaving.

No problem, I have a replacement door handle. Goes about taking off the door panel, disconnecting the electrical and then struggle a little getting the old handle off. Get that done and take the new handle out of the box only to discover the bastage is, get this, broken. Can’t wait for the boys to back down here and see the Taco put back together but with no door handle.

Brand new broken in box? Sounds like someone made a return and put the old part in the box. bang
