12 years ago today… 14 limits. I think I met Guy, Shane, Les, and Wayne on this hunt. Can’t remember who else. [Linked Image]

Bryan Glass has an awesome place! Strictly set up for ducks and fun.

I will go through the motions...

Friday afternoon I arrive to go "scoutin" for Saturdays hunts...we pull up on "Duncan Lake" and kicked literally a thousand Mallards off of it!!!! Since I had a dog stand I was set up in the "flooded Timber" banana

Saturday morning rolls around and I get paired up with Dave, Garrett, John, and Jason... hammer

Yeah...these jokers:
[Linked Image]

I will say this...at LST we had Mallards all over us!!!!

I think this was the first time "Dave" had seen Mallards drop out of the sky and drop through the trees...

Timber huntin' is something special, and these guys got to see it! It is really cool when you can work birds and they will respond and fall in!

Brandy with a Mallard Drake:

I was working some Mallards and then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a "large" drake, I yelled "Take it" and John swung around and shot it!

It has to be one of the LARGEST birds I have ever seen!

[Linked Image]

We had great hunt, we lost a few birds...but still ended up doing really well I thought!

It was fun huntin' with these guys, especially "DAVE" between his "short strokin" and "Half Shootin"... rofl

Then there was the teal..."You shot that teal in the arse....looked like a squirrel that got his butt ran over and tryin' to get across the road!"

Good times for sure!

Walkin' out of the timber!

That night Bryan and Julie (Stephen's wife) cooked dinner for us all!!!!! And it was good! up

Slymer and his Dad cooked the Steaks! (great job)

We ate and then had a calling clinic...I was pleasantly suprised to hear everyone...(even Dave) on their calling ability!

I have seen some of ya'll progress over the last couple of years...and honestly it makes me happy to hear your improvement! up

Sunday I found out I would "have to" hunt with the "THREE AMIGOS" scared

As luck would have it...Bryan took the "DU marsh" Stephen took the Red River lease, and I got stuck with sloppy seconds...

But you know what...I'll take it!

Brett, Micheal, and Trey and I had an absolute Ball!!!!!!

Fat Chicks, jokes, jerky, and some good old fashion ribbin'...

Them boys were a hoot...we didn't hide well, we didn't care, we just had fun...and their motto was "wez gunna shoot evry shell we got until the bird fallz or I run out" shocked

And "YES" they did!!!!

But when the smoke cleared...18 birds were on the strap and they got their limit!!!! grin

I must say I haven't had that much fun in a while!!!!

Sunday's total bag:

I will tell you this!

I look forward to next year...I had fun! It was "GREAT" meeting all of you (even ED) and eattin', and drinkin' and havin' just a plain ole good time!!!!!

THF hunt Dec 2007. The hunting sucked, but we had a lot of fun, and that is what it was all about. It test that BBQ set up at home, it worked pretty good.

Not going to lie, JJ kind of burned me posting that photo! Definitely miss JJ we would always keep up throughout the season. I still keep up with a few of those old punks from the refuge. Good old days. Before all the smartweed flats in east Texas got choked out by cut grass and we got big mallard pushes with every front.

Man, that was my first ever duck hunt. Dang Treebass got me adicted by bring me up there and now he don't hunt. Something about being old and not mad at the ducks any more.

old photos, great times to remember

went from hunting a few days a week to a few days a season the last 6 years or so. My daughter is 8 now and wanting to get out, might be time to get back after it.

I'm up for a group outing. Now that I'm semi-retired, I have time to go, but no one to go with...

That's a reflection on either me or everyone else...

Here is another THF hunt from my portable hard drive vault of photos.

January 9, 2011
There was a THF waterfowl group hunt at JJ's place in 2011. I think I joined this one last minute because of openings due to bad weather, but when I got there I was invited to leave with the Delta Waterfowl regional rep who was there to give a presentation that never happened also due to weather. I left and went to Eastern Oklahoma to hunt with him of course, so I actually was not on the group hunt. But I did make it back to Texas in time for the picture. wink
That Delta guy parted ways with Delta soon after that hunt, but no one could ever tell me why.
