My boy is my number one. The sweetest boy in the world 80lbs of lap dog. He is gonna be 8 this February and age has hit him quickly recently . Boxers only live 10–12 years. Lost our first boxer at 9 years old (Zeus). This boy(Justace) looks into my soul when he stares and (through his cataracts) me but I know what’s coming. He is not sick but aging quickly. We will not get another pup and when he goes, so this is our final chapter to have a family member with unconditional love. Sad to lose him but additionally sad to know an end of the line for us. We wish to travel as well and work is so demanding with a possible promotion on the horizon life is still busy and almost 20 years of boxers I see the end.

Here are some pics from puppy to 2 years ago and today.

I just wish he would stop snoring all the time.

Love your pups!

Hope the rest of your time with him is memorable. I'm in the same situation. My two are getting older and we'll be facing truths soon enough ourselves. And like you, my boy and girl will be the last ones I have. I have had pets ever since I was a little boy. But I am getting tired and don't want to leave any behind when I go. I would worry about them too much!

Best to you and give the ol boy a hug for me.

We are in the same situation also. 12 yr. old black lab. that has a couple of health issues and a14 yr. old Dachshund that is going blind. We may not get another dog for a while after these 2 are gone. Been tied down with kids, grandkids and dogs for many, many yrs. But they are pretty special to us. Like your Boxer. My neighbor across the street has several and we get to baby sit them when he is out of town.

Nothing like 'em. This blue lacy will be our last. She's 10, and also aging quickly. I've told the wife if she wants another one she can wait 'til I've crossed over. I can't go through this again. Enjoy the time you have left!

I feel your pain. We rescued a male and female in 2010. Lost both of them this year. There is no plans to replace them.

My wifes brother is a vet and she works for him. Our daughter is a Vet as well. Having to finally pull the plug humanely on a family member does not get easier just because they've seen it thousands of times. We put our pet matriarch down a few months ago due to chronic heart failure. Not easy.

You have to remember, they might not be drinking as much as we are.

When we get a pup we all know how it will probably end eventually but that certainly doesn't help take the pain away. My little dog suddenly sickened around 6:00 PM one evening in 2021 and I had to put her to sleep around 8:30 PM. I didn't even have time to process what was happening. Enjoy the time with him, Shane.

One of the best parts of my job is seeing my clients children grow up and to see their dogs every week. I have known so many dogs from cradle to grave and it choaks me up thinking about the ones that have passed.

I understand your grief at seeing your buddy on the decline and you have my sympathy.

Old dogs are good dogs. Got a feeling you end up changing your mind. Life is enriched by man’s best friend.

Same boat Sd and it can be depressing, Some don't/can't understand having a good dog that has become one of the family, but that is how they can get.

Our "Bella" is 9 this fall, the best friend I've had bar none, awlays there no matter how things are going, or what mood is on, always a pal
