I got a tractor disc from my dads this weekend and have some steel to plug the hole. Going to wire wheel and disc sand the whole thing, weld in a plug in the middle. I need to order some horseshoes to use as handles.

Anyone have any tips?

Put the best work on the inside
Tractor sup used to have a selection of shoes in
the store. Not sure now because they've become
pretty yuppiefied over the years. That would save
some shipping
Don't forget to make a "wok" spatula while you're
fabricating. Or you can get a reasonably priced
one at the vietnamese grocery store

Clean it good before you try to start welding

I appreciate the pointers. I will check TS for the horse shoes.

I've got some used shoes that I've collected from my Dad's horses over the years for just such projects. If you're ever over towards Collin county, you can have them.

I bent the horseshoe handles after welding them on so disc could lay flat when upside down. I did not like them sticking above the rim.

I have made a few. I prefer spring handles because they do not heat up. Horseshoe handles require gloves to move or adjust it once you get the wok up to temp. I hang mine when not in use but making the handles flat is a great idea. Make sure you get it cleaned very well. I didn't clean it as well as I should have on the first couple and you could taste the difference. I ended up re-grinding it and re seasoning it. I recently got a black stone so I added a 1' lip to my wok and it is now my dedicated fryer.

The Fryer for blackstone is a good idea. I have I think 5 or 6 tractor discs. Going to see how this turns out and then make one for my brother as well. Then might make one just for frying on the blackstone
