RV'ing in Lake Havasu AZ, and our park is right up by the local airport. They use it for a lot of training flights for planes and helos from Calif. Yesterday was Apaches, and this afternoon we were treated to close flights of V-22 Ospreys. They are the coolest planes!!!

Cool flying machines. They're more agile than I give them credit for:

Guys, so good to hear the comments regarding the V-22 Osprey. It's near and dear to my heart as I am on the V-22 program for Bell Textron. I encourage you all to also check out our FVL (future vertical lift) upcoming multi-branch solution, the V-280 Valor which should be supplying the army with full contracted production in early 2030s. Basically a slimmed down V-22 with more speed, manuverability and armaments.

Saw where another one of these things crashed killing 8. I’m thinking going up, or going straight, is not that much of a problem.,.it’s that red button that says, “Press Button to Switch Wings from Up to Straight.”

Those tilt rotors are awesome. I saw an Osprey flying over Texoma a year or two ago while camping - they have a very unique acoustic signature.

Me too, they seem to have a hard time staying in the air.

Yup, I can tell when one is coming by sound. My kids would go running outside to see it. They are cool.

Yulista has a maintenance facility behind my house. Everything shakes, rattles, and rolls when they test the engines. I still enjoy watching them hover and do circles around the airport.

If it's not quite a plane and not quite a chopper, what do you call it?

A PLOPPER!

Still a cool bird nonetheless.

I do wonder what dirty deals Kay Grainger had to make to ensure the sure the Appropriations Committee kept sending checks to Bell to develop and refine the bird for the last 4 decades.

Sounds like a FLOPPER. Bad accident record from the beginning.

Tilt-rotor officially, but plopper made me laugh.
