I have a hydraulic bale spear that goes in the back of my pick up, attaches to the gooseneck ball and power hooks directly to truck's battery. I put a new motor and pump on it last year. The wire on the controller it came with was just a tad too short. SO, at the end of the season last year, I cut it off with the intention of adding some wire and a plug for easy disconnect. Problem now is, I can't find it. Since I have to buy a new one, I got to thinking that I could do a wireless controller similar to a winch. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work. Same concept, no? Old controller had 5 wires with up/down function. I found this at Northern, 5 wires with in/out??

If this is what you are talking about it should work. I hope it comes with some type of fuse.

I bet it would. It should be cheap enough to be worth trying it. I got a wireless remote for my warn winch and it is so nice to be able to stand or sit where I want to and not to have to deal with the cable. Mine I just have to push the up and down button at the same time and the remote pairs. The remote then turns itself off after several minutes. That one is probably similar. For another option there is also the Badlands one from harbor freight that some have had good luck with on the warn winches, but it has the plug, so you would need to cut that off or if you could find a female plug to match and have a way to keep the receiver out of the weather when not in use.

Thanks, I think I’m going to try it. Worst case, I’ll put it on my buggy winch if it doesn’t work. Thanks!

Does your current set up have a solenoid? If not that set ups going to be useless without one so add one to your order and it will work like a champ no questions asked.

He said it was hooked straight to the battery so I wasn’t sure, that controller will work just fine then. I’d definitely add a 10 amp fuse to the power input on the control box though.
