Not much has changed on our place. Still mild weather up North and not much has pushed down. Pretty sure we will have another teal beatdown this weekend!

Local (semi-rural) ponds have had more birds on them this week than I was seeing before Thanksgiving.
Was beginning to see some better big duck numbers with the cold fronts around Thanksgiving, but expect it to still be at least half GWT where I hunt.

About 90% of the birds around us this morning were green wings. Only 1 big duck in a 3 man limit.

Hunted 3 guns yesterday, wind Jacked us up and fog- easy limit solo today- actually only shot them feet down, at 15-25 yards. Cans Teal and a drake pintail today. Decoyed great. Actually passed on some big groups of teal today that didn’t do it right. 17 total 2 days.

We had fog set in Saturday morning and was thick til almost 10. At 9 we still couldnt even see our furthest decoy. Only shot 2 birds. Only saw 3 that came in. Mother Nature won that hand of poker for sure!

Hey Barney, had some buddies that went up to Kansas... I mean way North TX last week. They stayed on the freeze line and hunted the deeper cuts while everything else was froze up. I'll just say that I wish I had gone with them LOL.

I have not done any local scouting at all this year. I'm at a stage in life I do prefer the longer multi day road trips to bird hunt over the weekend warrior stuff. I really do need to plan at least one OK/KS trip next year. I have been hearing some good things from my Ombudsmen up there.

I need to go back to Kansas. Last time was a learning session as I hunted areas with stale birds. Next time I'll be more mobile. But first, I have two points in SD that I plan to burn next year if I don't draw elk in CO. I'm looking for someone to go with me to either KS or SD.

I"m not doing NTX scouting reports this year as I'm really supposed to be retired and living in Arizona. But also the places I scout and hunt just haven't had water until lately. Some still don't... Plus I'm not driving to the office every day so don't look at some of the places I've scouted before. Lazy I guess.
