Last year was the worst in 12 years at my place in Dickens county. No fawns from drought, over grown vegetation from late August and September floods with deer avoiding feeders completely. We harvested one small doe at season end,
This year we have seen 3 to 4 shooters on camera at night but nothing during the day and almost no feeder activity. Seeing a deer in the distance is a high point.
Again my place is a jungle this year with dense vegetation from excellent rains. I have no acorns but I understand there was a banner acorn crop and groves of oaks are within a few miles.
I'm advised by local Game Warden this year is an exceptional year in quantity and size.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar situation

My dad’s place is in Kendalia (Kendall county), the drought was horrible there and the deer are showing it. Pizz poor year for antlers and deer health.
Not similar in the over growth situation, but kinda similar in the lack of deer quality.

I’m also in Dickens county and last year was just as bad as you have described. This year we have had several sets of twin fawns, etc. The big deer have certainly been elusive and behavior has been more unpredictable than in previous years. I guess that’s what makes it hunting and not shooting.
