Need some help figuring out what piece I need for my Marlin Model 60 tube feed .22. The action stopped working and when I pulled the trigger off there was a crumbled up piece of hard plastic. Looked like a chopped up walnut. Problem is that it is so damaged I don’t know what piece to look for. Anyone know what I need and where I could find it? Any help is much appreciated!!

If correct, that's dam impressive. '60's/'70's plastics.

Okay, thanks a ton! I’ll order one. I just clean up the gun and shot it 4 times without the plastic piece and it functioned properly! I wonder if it is okay to shoot this way until this piece comes in.

That's more plastic than a buffer usually but there is no other plastic like that in one. Too bad it's a JM Marlin because it's from when there's a reason they sold to Remington. Good news it's not hard to replace and is cheap. The bad news is it's not as easy as on a 10/22.
Pass the gravy.

If you are local I will fix it for you if you supply the parts.

Great YouTube videos on replacing the buffer. Can't believe one disintegrated buffer would make such a mess.

A lot of the old buffers did that without even shooting the gun. Marlin Camp 9 & 45, HK Model 4, and many others. Even the Buffer in a MP5A3 falls apart over time.
